Solver Beta Testing

On December 15, 2022, the Russian company QuSolve announced that it had mastered logical algorithms as part of the beta testing of its solver, Russian software for solving optimization problems. The company works with Russian industrial enterprises, including from strategic industries, and will now be able to partially replace foreign software, which is widely used in industry.

Thanks to the original developments of QuSolve, the Russian solver will use an approach inspired by quantum computing in the selection and analysis of options. This significantly speeds up calculations and allows you to solve more complex multivariable problems, which could take months to solve in classic ways, the company noted.

Thanks to the use of logical algorithms in solver, large production or logistics hubs will be able to find quick and optimal solutions for their tasks. As the product developers explained, traditional algorithms that use, for example, the branch and boundary method do not always effectively cope with such requests. Increasing the number of variables and the number of constraints can significantly increase the calculation time. It is expected that the combination of ideas that the Russian solver is working on will allow you to quickly find optimal solutions using fewer resources.

Against the background of the departure of large Western players (including IBM), who provided optimization services to Russian enterprises, the demand for Russian developments in this industry increased sharply. QuSolve works within the framework of the import substitution strategy, and the release of its salt - one of the key goals - will replace the solutions of foreign companies Gurobi and CPLEX.

QuSolve Solver allows you to find optimal solutions to problems in areas such as planning and scheduling production, logistics management (calculating optimal routes, increasing loading density), etc., regardless of additional conditions or variables. QuSolve also plans to release an interface that will allow users to translate management requests into a logical language using conventional application programming tools themselves.

Solver development

On April 12, 2022, the Russian company QuSolve announced that it is developing its own solver - this is complex software that calculates the best solution for a user-specified scenario, it is used to optimize business processes in industry and logistics.

The release is scheduled for the second half of 2022.

QuSolve addresses complex optimization challenges for industrial enterprises. For example, to optimize the transportation of products by rail, you need to go through millions of scenario options. Classical computers will go through them for decades, and existing quantum computers do not yet even allow them to approach such tasks. The QuSolve team learned to use the advantages of quantum computing on classical computers and quickly carry out complex calculations - this requires a solver.

Until the beginning of 2022, QuSolve made calculations on the Japanese solver Fixstars. Now the team in test mode uses its own development. Its own solver allows QuSolve to speed up calculations and even more personalize them for the client. Business processes are dynamic, so you need to have access to the internal solver program code in order to quickly change settings, adapt them to the situation, and collect statistics on system behavior.

QuSolve plans that its solver can replace analogues from foreign ones that providers left the Russian market in March 2022. This, among other things, is about, IBM which promotes its CPLEX solver, and another the American company - Gurobi. QuSolve also plans to provide its solver to other computing companies. This will allow Russian players to remain independent of foreign decisions.

In Russia, as you know, there is no shortage in strong mathematicians and engineers, but they work mainly on foreign software and equipment. This limits the applicability of solvers in solving problems existing in Russian business. By releasing our own solver, we will be able to completely close the circuit of calculations within the company and thus provide 100% import substitution of optimization calculations for industry, "explains Dmitry Vasilkov, founder and CEO of QuSolve.

The problems of combinatorial optimization can be found in many areas: from sorting urban bicycles by stations to the optimal location of oil wells. For each customer, QuSolve analyzes production processes and offers solutions to optimize them.
