2022: Creating Automated Data Storage and Processing to Analyze Balanced Metrics
Softline on July 21, 2022 announced the completion of a project to create an automated data storage and processing system for Timbermash Baikal to analyze balanced indicators. Based on the results of the work, the process of collecting and preparing data for analytical reports of a client on cloud technologies was fully automated. The implemented BI system allows you to increase the transparency of business processes and the speed of management decisions by monitoring and visualizing key financial indicators and tracking their dynamics over time. Timbermash Baikal plans to develop and scale the BI system using the Softline team, in particular, to add updated data for their subsequent processing, calculated indicators and provide delimited access to a wide range of users.

For the efficient performance of the company's analysts, it became necessary to create a system of balanced indicators that would be presented to analysts and management in one tool. Previously, the company used disparate systems that collected and uploaded data to different formats. This information often required additional manual processing. Thus, the company's specialists during the preparation of analytical reports had to deal with routine and long-term operations. As a result, Timbermash Baikal decided to contact Softline for the development of a tool that allows you to collect, compare and analyze data in one place, as well as provide reporting. To implement the full functionality of the system, it was necessary to solve the problems of integrating a BI solution with other client systems, therefore, at the first stage, the Softline team implemented a project with limited functionality.
At the start of the project, the company's engineers developed a data storage layer: they analyzed in what form the necessary data are present in the customer's information systems, how they should be processed, transformed and enriched for their subsequent processing by the BI system. This was followed by work on data collection, accumulation and processing, and finally, the visual presentation of information with additional calculations. It is important to note that the customer company uses a third-party integration bus for internal processes, with which it was necessary to connect the BI system. Therefore, it was necessary to establish effective tripartite cooperation between our team, Timbermash Baikal specialists and the service company that served the integration bus. Softline Digital specialists have extensive experience with third-party products, and thanks to their competent integration into the solution architecture and coordination of processes with the service company, it was possible to successfully integrate and achieve all the goals set. As a result, the implemented system allows you to collect, analyze and display financial data, such as cash receipts, goods issues, profitability, receivables, etc. In addition, to process some indicators together with the customer, we studied business processes, built a calculation methodology, made proposals related to taking into account the original data set, explained Anna Sviridova, architect of Big Data at Softline.

The BI-system of balanced indicators implemented by Softline has become an understandable analytical tool for the company for business. The functionality of the BI system allows analysts to quickly access current and historical data in one window with visual visualization. The Company highly appreciated the system's ability to compare indicators in different sections - both by time periods and by divisions of the Company and individual employees. Thus, we obtained a regular construction of flexible analytical reporting based on reliable information, which freed the team from the laborious process of manual preparation of reports. Based on this data, the company can not only compare indicators with each other, but also determine what these indicators are from, look for reasons and relationships between data values.
