2022: Integration with Smart Operating MVS OR

In the testing center of the company Medical Imaging Systems in St. Petersburg, control tests of surgical lamps of the Russian manufacturer ZAO EMA Plant (trademark EMALED) were successfully carried out using the touch interface of the integrated operating MVS OR. This was announced on September 28, 2022 by the Medical Imaging Systems company.

Emaled Surgical Lights Integrated into MVS OR Smart Operating Room

According to the company, the user interface for controlling EMALED lamps on the MVS OR panel allows you to control all the functions of the surgical lamp: on-off, light level, change in color temperature, change in the diameter of the light spot (focus), the choice of light mode depending on the type of surgery, as well as the control of the video camera built into the lamp.

The tests by ZAO EMA Plant were attended by: plant director Andrei Kaletin, commercial and marketing service, technical specialists. From the side of "Medical Imaging Systems" Director of the Department of Design and Production of Medical Devices Fedor Grishin, Product Director Grigory Bayburtyan, technical specialists.

After the completion of the tests, the parties signed a certificate of integration of the products of EMA Plant CJSC and Medical Imaging Systems LLC within the framework of Test Program and Methodology No. 01.EMA.MVS.2022.PM.

Centralized management of medical equipment using touch screens is one of the most important functions of the modern integrated operating room. In MVS operating systems, such control screens can be integrated into the walls of clean room modules, and/or mounted on brackets or medical consoles in the operating table area.

One of the basic principles embedded in the architecture of MVS solutions is that any medical equipment, regardless of the manufacturer, can be integrated into the MVS OR management system. This allows the heads of medical organizations when equipping the operblock not to be limited in the choice of manufacturers and guided by specific needs.

We understand that integrated (smart) operating rooms are a modern product and for the further development of our company we simply need to be able to integrate our EMALED lamps into the Smart Operating Room.

Surgeons during the operation are not distracted by the adjustment of lighting. The operating sister, like any member of the operating team, can adjust the lighting using a single touch control panel:

  • Turn on - turn off the surgical lights.
  • Select the desired illumination level and color temperature.
  • Change the diameter of the light spot.
  • With one click, select the desired lighting mode according to the type of surgery:
    • ENDO mode for endoscopic examinations and operations: turning off all LEDs with reflectors, using only LEDs with lenses giving a more scattered light beam;
    • NORMAL mode - normal illumination: all LEDs are used in this mode: both with reflectors and lenses, forming the light beam required by the surgeon;

  • "CENTER" mode for intracavitary operations, when it is necessary to illuminate the patient's deep organs. Light-emitting diodes located in the center of the lighting unit are turned on in the high brightness mode, and peripheral light-emitting diodes in the petals switch to a lower intensity of light, which provides a narrower beam of light.
  • Control of focus of video camera built into EMALED lamp. A video camera located directly above the surgical area is an important video signal source for the integrated MVS OR operating system. During the operation, streaming video is broadcast and recorded from this camera synchronously with other video sources located in the operating room (for example, an endoscope video camera, an overview video camera, a patient monitor, an ultrasound device, a C-arc, etc.). Setting the focus of this camera is important for the subsequent purposes of learning and parsing the operation, as in integrated MVS operating rooms, videotapes of the operations are stored in the hospital's video archive .
