3D Generator Service

The 3D Generator service creates volumetric images of secondary cardboard packaging using layouts created by designers. Such images have custom settings, and are also to be downloaded for subsequent placement on the required resources.

About the project

The 3D Generator service was created to promote pharmaceutical products on marketplaces and other online sites.

The project is a collection of classic web development, as well as development through low-code using its own low-code platform Eftech.Factory. It is important to note that in this case, classical development solves the problems of processing 2D layouts, and with the help of low-code the entire interface, user logic, as well as integration interactions between all microservices of the system are implemented.

The 3D Generator service allows you to customize the image of the package to meet the requirements of a particular online platform: select the angle of rotation and shadow, the size of the image and the illumination of its faces, rotation along the axes, camera movement and other parameters. The resulting 3D images are placed on sites and marketplaces, which reduces user costs, since the necessary settings for creating an image are applied in just a few minutes without using a camera and Photoshop.

Tasks to be solved

The 3D Generator service allows you to create a 3D image in a few minutes using only a 2D package layout, which is an expanded flat box of 6 faces.

For the user, the process is as follows:

  1. The package layout is loaded.
  2. The Face Layout Cutting Microservice automatically detects these faces for further 3D imaging.
  3. Another image generation microservice glues the resulting faces together.
  4. The user can apply manual settings to the resulting 3D image or choose from preset templates available in the system.
  5. The finished image is available for download so that in the future the user can place it on the resource he needs.

In addition to automatic face detection, the 3D Generator service also has the ability to use the so-called "manual" cutting. This method is necessary for layouts that do not have a layer with a boundary in pdf, or all data is placed within one layer, as well as for layouts whose format is different from pdf.

In this case, a 6-sided matrix is available to the user, having superimposed it on the layout, the service will receive data on the faces and also transfer them to generate a new 3D image.

Works performed

By the release in October 2023, the 3D Generator service had the following capabilities:

  • automatic and manual cutting of layouts;
  • Generating 3D images
  • presets of image templates with system settings;
  • the ability to create your own presets of templates for later application to images;
  • settings for images:
    • changing the perspective of the image;
    • Set up a round of packing faces
    • image scale;
    • view (rotation of package along axes, display angle);
    • lighting settings (intensity, contrast, lighting of each face separately);
    • Output file settings (background selection, resolution, format)

  • creating a collection of 360 for marketplaces taking into account their requirements (OZON, Yandex.Market, Wildberries), as well as the ability to create a custom collection of 360 for alternative resources.

Project results

About the project

The 3D Generator service was created to promote pharmaceutical products on marketplaces and other online sites.

The project is the development of a service for generating 3D images of drug packages using exclusively web technologies.

The system allows you to customize the image of the product according to the requirements of a particular online platform: select the angle of rotation and shadow, the size of the image and the illumination of its faces, rotation along the axes, camera movement and other parameters. The resulting 3D images are placed on sites and marketplaces, which saves the customer time and reduces costs, as he can apply the necessary settings to create an image in just a few minutes without using a camera and Photoshop.

Tasks to be solved

The service allows you to create 3D images with just a 2D layout of an expanded package, as if you manually pasted the package and placed it in the same plane.

The process is as follows:

  • 1. Loading 2D layout.
  • 2. The microservice on the backend automatically detects the faces of the layout package and cuts these faces to pass them on to form the final image.
  • 3. Next, the 3D image generation service "glues" the cut faces into the packaging we are familiar with and the system begins to form data for configuration: manual or automatic.
  • 4. To form 3D images, there are presets of templates that are already ready for use in the system.
  • 5. The finished 3D image is available for download, then the client himself decides how it will be used.

Works performed

As of October 2021, a service for cutting package layouts has already been created, as well as a service for generating 3D images based on the results of cutting a layout on the edge.

The generated 3D image has the ability to be customized within the following settings:

  • View (display angle, image rotation)
  • Smoothing Faces

  • Lighting parameters (face lighting and contrast)
  • Output File Settings (Resolution/Extension)
