The waterfowl drone was involved in the construction of the Bagaevsky hydroelectric complex (BSU) in the Rostov region. This was announced on November 8, 2022 by the Stroytransgaz company, which is engaged in the construction of the largest hydroelectric complex on the Don River.
For quick and high-quality bathymetric shooting (depth measurements) during the construction of the BSU, an unmanned Apache 4 manufactured by CHC Navigation is used. The drone allows you to obtain accurate data on the relief of the bottom and water surface with minimal human participation.
The surveyors of the facility were trained and successfully started operating the waterfowl drone. According to the requirements of the state contract, specialists should conduct channel surveys before the start of work, during their conduct and upon completion. Often depth measurements are carried out manually using a water gauge rail, or by a team of two people on a boat using an echo sounder GPSGLONASS and/- receiver.
With the help of a drone, one specialist can complete all measurements without entering the river. In addition, the drone is much easier to deliver to the right area than a boat with the necessary equipment. Before starting work, you need to program the route, launch the drone on the water, and all the necessary measurements will be performed automatically. Apache allows you to take detailed shooting of a wide strip of the bottom in one pass.
The use of the Apache drone allows visual inspection of relief forms throughout all dredging work, to obtain intermediate results, and after completion of work - final results.
As noted in Stroytransgaz, the advantage of the drone is the ability to carry out work even with a freezing or partially ice-covered water surface, which is very important at a given pace of construction of the Bagaevsky hydroelectric complex.[1]
