2023: Launch of mass production of Russian video cameras "iTek Pro" with the embedded software "Socol"

Programmers of the Russian company "VIPAX" have developed domestic embedded software "Socol" for IP-video cameras. A record of it is entered in the register of Russian software (No. 17768 of 29.05.2023), which confirms the safety of use at critical, state and municipal facilities: energy and industrial enterprises, railway stations, airports and other crowded places. In June 2023, mass production of Russian iTech PRO video cameras with the embedded software Socol was launched. This was announced on June 14, 2023 by representatives of the VIPAX company.

According to representatives of the VIPAX manufacturing company, the introduction of domestic IT products ensures the absence of undeclared capabilities in the equipment and minimizes the risk of third-party interference or information leaks. As of June 2023, the state makes increased requirements for the protection of socially significant places and subjects of critical infrastructure and obliges them to switch to Russian software and equipment by 2025 (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 30.03.2022 No. 166 "On Measures to Ensure Technological Independence and Security of Critical Information Infrastructure of the Russian Federation").

According to Sergey Mikhailov, General Director of VIPAX, most of the video cameras used in Russia still work on foreign software, which, unlike Russian, is more vulnerable from the point of view of information security and is prohibited to meet state and municipal needs (in accordance with the RF PP of 16.11.2015 No. 1236).

In addition to reliability, Russian products give the consumer the opportunity to directly interact with the developer in order to quickly update the system and make changes taking into account incoming tasks.

As reported, the Socol software allows in the future to adapt the camera functionality to the needs of the customer: for example, install the VipNET Client to protect information when transmitting data through open communication channels, embed video analytics modules or integrate the camera with other security subsystems. The web interface for camera configuration and image viewing is available in all modern browsers on any operating system, including the Linux family.

When creating a web interface, the developers used HTML5 technology and professional terminology, which fundamentally distinguishes it from Russified versions of foreign software.

Video cameras "I-Teco PRO" with embedded software "Sokol" comply with the state policy of import substitution: they are included in the register of Russian radio-electronic products (PP RF No. 878) and have the right to participate in purchases for state and municipal needs and the needs of subjects of critical information infrastructure.

Such cameras are equipped with a built-in motion detector and components necessary for working both in a closed segment of the network and over the Internet. For June 2023, with the embedded software of "Socol," a model range of two series of cameras is available "I-Teco Missile Defense": "Sokol-Extreme Vision" - design video cameras with optimized characteristics that allow you to form a full-color image of fast-moving objects in extremely low light conditions; "Sokol- Color On "- mid-range video cameras with 24/7 color imaging technology.

2022: Presentation of alpha version of software for IP video cameras

The developers of the Perm company Vipax, a Russian manufacturer of intelligent video surveillance systems, plan to release an IP video camera with their own software and a convenient web interface by mid-2023. This was announced on December 20, 2022 to TAdviser by representatives of Vipax.

Perm has developed the first Russian software with a web interface for IP cameras

According to them, this is one of the first developments in Russia of domestic software for IP cameras, which as of December 2022, the software is undergoing an alpha testing and debugging stage.

The Vipax developers have created their own architecture, which allows in the future to expand the functionality of the software: to embed video analytics modules, adapt to the tasks of a particular object, integrate with video monitoring systems and other security systems - security and fire fighting, access control and control, etc.

To configure the camera with the new software and watch videos, a web interface was created, which you can connect to through a browser on your computer or mobile phone. The web interface allows you to view a live stream, archive video or a specific moment of video. You can also export recorded video through the web interface, save pictures, control the rotary camera, LED backlight and other settings.

As noted in the company, almost all IP cameras in Russia run on foreign software, which ultimately led to complete dependence on foreign developers. As a result, users faced restrictions in camera integrations, online updates, the use of full functionality, as well as the vulnerability of cameras in terms of information security. To achieve technological independence, Russian manufacturers of video surveillance systems began to develop their own software.

The Vipax program is suitable for use at any critical infrastructure facilities - in hospitals, schools, train stations, industrial facilities of companies with state participation and in other state and budgetary institutions, the developers emphasized.

According to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 30.03.2022 No. 166 "On measures to ensure the technological independence and security of the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation," all significant objects of the critical information infrastructure should be transferred to Russian software and equipment by January 2025. Vipax CEO Sergei Mikhailov stressed that the emergence of domestic software for IP video cameras is a natural reaction to market needs and import substitution policy.

"Our main aim is to make CCTV as secure as possible, to protect the system from possible third party interventions or data breaches. Our video cameras and servers have already confirmed their security, they are included in the Unified Register of Russian Electronic Products, and we have created our own software so that the customer has full confidence in the reliability of Russian video surveillance systems, "said Sergei Mikhailov.
