2022: Introduction of intelligent transport systems in Stavropol Krai
On December 20, 2022, Rostelematica (part of the Telematics concern) announced the introduction of intelligent transport systems on the territory of the Stavropol Territory, which will allow real-time analysis of the situation on the roads and control traffic flows. As a result, this should increase the efficiency of using the current infrastructure and ensure safety for all road users, the company noted.
Every year in the Stavropol Territory the number of cars is growing, which increases traffic congestion, the number of traffic jams and leads to a decrease in the level of road safety. The introduction of intelligent transport systems in the infrastructure of the city will reduce the number of accidents, congestion, evenly distribute the transport load and automate traffic management processes.
Within the framework of the national project "Safe Quality Roads," over 4307 km of public roads will become part of ITS in Stavropol and six districts of the Stavropol Territory, where 54 traffic lights will be modernized, 3 dynamic information boards will be installed and 5 subsystems will be introduced that will be able to simulate and predict the intensity of transport traffic, and monitor compliance with traffic rules.
Intelligent transport systems are designed specifically for the current and future tasks as part of the integrated development of the road infrastructure of the Stavropol Territory. The intelligent transport system of the agglomeration will be able to automatically detect road accidents and other emergencies on the roads, which will reduce the speed of response of emergency services and redistribute traffic flows, thereby ensuring a high level of safety for all participants in the movement, Rostelecomatics emphasized.
"The implementation of the project takes place in several stages, and we can already say that intelligent transport systems have demonstrated themselves from the best side and helped to reduce the number of traffic jams, redistribute traffic flows and unload certain sections of public roads. For example, the throughput of one of the streets increased by 16%. Further deployment of ITS in the region will open up new opportunities for both population mobility and the infrastructure of the transport complex, "said Dmitry Tselikov, General Director of Rostelecomatika (part of the Telematics concern). |
Rostelecomatika is introducing ITS in 21 regions of Russia, including the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Buryatia, Samara, Voronezh and Kirov regions. When implementing projects, the company focuses on the predominant use of domestic equipment, Russian software (software) and hardware and software systems.
