2022: Optimization of warehouse logistics in Novosibirsk with Axelot WMS X5
Thanks to automation using the AXELOT WMS X5 system, the Promeko warehouse has implemented various algorithms for planning tasks for selection, reduced the impact of the human factor and introduced accounting for goods in various sections. This was announced by AXELOT on December 23, 2022.
Having evaluated the offers on the market, Promeko management chose the AXELOT WMS X5 system as the most suitable for solving existing problems. The AXELOT specialists, who were involved in the project, already had experience in automating warehouses of a similar orientation, were familiar with the industry specifics and were able to demonstrate the existing cases of implementing AXELOT WMS X5 in warehouses of electrical products, which finally convinced the company management of their choice.
The implementation was carried out at the Promeko warehouse in Novosibirsk. The area of the object is 4500 square meters. m, a wide range of products for electrical installation is stored here, only 6,000 active product items. It should be noted that the pilot launch of the system was carried out only in the area of electrical equipment - the company's management decided to implement the system in stages to reduce the risk of unforeseen situations.
For the team on the part of the customer, this was the first experience of both automation within the project and the implementation of the WMS class system in the warehouse - before they were engaged only in the modernization and support of the CIS, solving current problems. However, AXELOT specialists helped organize the work in accordance with the proven methods of project implementation and prepare the system and warehouse for launch, despite the fact that most of the work occurred during the period of increased demand. The joint work of the project teams was planned and carried out with an eye to the fact that by the time of the future replication of AXELOT WMS X5 on other product groups, Promeko employees will already have sufficient competencies and experience to perform most of the work on their own.
AXELOT conducted an audit of existing warehouse business processes, optimized them and brought them to uniform standards. For example, earlier acceptance was carried out "on paper," the operator manually entered data into the corporate system. Orders prepared for assembly were fixed in the same way, which led to unpredictable delays in updating the status of documents. The storekeeper chose the place for placing the defective goods at his discretion. There was no accounting for the acceptance and shipment of the entire composition of the specification, only employees had complete data on the goods, there was no rotation of the goods by production date. Each employee was strictly tied to a specific area and only responsible for it.
After the implementation of WMS, all operations in the warehouse are carried out using the shipping documentation, information on the movements of goods is recorded in the system in real time and promptly transmitted to the CIS. The integration of the systems was implemented using DATAREON MQ, and the CIS adaptation was carried out taking into account the results of the audit of the corporate system conducted in advance at the request of the customer, which saved several dozen working hours and prepared not only the warehouse, but also the rest of the company's divisions for changes in advance.
WMS not only monitors receipt and consumption in quantitative and qualitative terms, but also monitors the completeness of acceptance and shipment of composite products agreed specifications. The system plans to place the scrap strictly in the allocated area, and the selection tasks are formed as follows: according to the FEFO principles - for goods taking into account the shelf life, and according to FIFO - for goods without taking into account the shelf life.
An important improvement was the interchangeability of employees - now you do not need to rely on the knowledge and memory of an individual. Mobility in terms of the ability to switch between different tasks had a positive effect on warehouse performance.
The high-quality training provided by AXELOT's key employees enabled the formation of an "expert" team that will assist other employees in difficult situations and, if necessary, even train line personnel to work with WMS in the field. The introduction of AXELOT WMS X5 in the Promeco warehouse made it possible to automate warehouse processes, ensure accounting by production dates, track warehouse balances in real time and move away from paper technology. Accordingly, the number of errors caused by the human factor has also decreased. The implemented solution has proven its effectiveness, so Promeko management is preparing for its further development - the replication of WMS to other areas of the warehouse and commodity groups.
