The complex is intended for complex treatment of cancer pelvic organs,, breast gullet nasopharynx and oral cavity by contact radiation therapy. The source of gamma radiation is briefly time supplied directly to the tumor area and produces radiation with very high accuracy, while keeping the surrounding healthy tissues practically unaffected. As specified in Rosatom, this method can be used both independently and together with remote radiation therapy, chemotherapy surgical and methods.

Every year, with the help of the apparatus, it is planned to carry out more than 500 medical procedures for patients from the Tula region and neighboring regions. In total, up to 100 patients will be able to receive treatment.

Earlier, the serial production of "Brahium" was established by Rusatom Healthcare"" (the division of "Rosatom," accumulating expertise in the field health care).

"The complex has applicators (instruments for entering a radiation source) compatible with visual diagnostic systems, CT, MRI, as well as a three-dimensional radiation therapy planning system. The latter allows using a computer to create a 3D model of a tumor for more accurate targeting by radiation. All this guarantees the high quality of the therapy provided while reducing financial costs, "said Dmitry Istomin, chief physician of the Tula Regional Clinical Oncological Dispensary.

According to Igor Obrubov, CEO of Rusatom Healthcare, the price of Brachium does not depend on the volatility of the exchange rate. Service and warranty service are provided by Rosatom employees in a short time. At the same time, "Brachium" has not one, but two radiation sources to choose from (Co-60 and Ir-192); optionally, it is possible to work with sources on promising isotopes (Yb, etc.).
