2023: Launch of electronic queue booking system for cars on the Russian-Lithuanian border

For the first time in Russia, a unified system for electronic booking of queues for cars has been introduced. This was reported to TAdviser on January 19, 2023 by representatives of the Telematics concern.

The digital solution was developed for the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation by the SoftTelematics company, which is part of the concern. As expected, it will significantly reduce the waiting time for drivers and carriers at checkpoints.

Depending on the international direction, waiting in line at the border can range from several hours to a day. The created unified queue booking system will radically speed up the border passage time and increase the throughput of international automobile checkpoints (MAPP), Telematics said.

The service will be provided free of charge for individuals and legal entities. After registering on the portal of the queue booking system, the driver will only need to choose a free date and time for travel, confirmation will be sent to e-mail and via SMS-notification. It will also be possible to use the service through the Public services website or upon arrival at MAPP, taking a ticket with a QR code from the operator.

According to Telematics, the electronic booking system includes an information security loop and a strict procedure for forming individual time slots that will provide a high level of protection against DDoS attacks, fraud activities, as well as fraud with the purchase of seats in the queue.

The digitalization of the queue, according to the concern, will streamline the process of crossing the border, have a positive effect on the development of trade, will generally strengthen transit potential, and countries will also speed up import and export processes in strategic important areas. Thanks to the system, the predictability of the arrival of goods will increase and the costs transport of companies associated with the loss of time in queues will decrease.

"Kilometer-long queues of cars at the borders will disappear during the spread of the system by drivers. Early registration will not only increase the comfort of crossing the border, but also reduce the waiting time at MAPP by at least 25%, since everyone will come to the appointed hour, "said Dmitry Kazarinov, General Director of Soft Telematics (part of the Telematics concern).

According to him, the first electronic point has already begun its work on the Russian-Lithuanian border "MAPP - Chernyshevskoye." In the future, it is planned to scale the technological solution to the rest of the international checkpoints in Russia.
