2023: Product Creation

In early March 2023, it became known about the creation by Avtotor of a system for replacing an internal combustion engine (ICE) with an electric motor of its own production. The founder of the enterprise, Vladimir Shcherbakov, spoke about the new development.

We suggested that the government (and it supports us) make 150 thousand electric engines of different dimensions and control systems for them for the entire industry. This is twice as much as the concept of the auto industry provides. Of course, there will be no such need for new electric vehicles yet. Therefore, we will produce electric kits in order to replace the old ICE along with the gearbox with a new electric one for cars that are already in operation, he said in an interview with Izvestia.

According to him, the electric kit can be installed on a machine at any service station. The holding has signed contracts with companies using remotorization technology in China and Korea. By the beginning of March 2023, the innovation and technological center of the plant is undergoing refinement of design solutions in order to bring them to the production stage.

Electric motors for turning used fuel cars into "battery" will be produced by Avtotor itself. First, cars from the park of the Kaliningrad region, where the holding plant is located, will be selected for "transplanting" the motor. Local authorities have already agreed on the project. The cost of replacing the ICE with an electric motor during mass launch will cost €1,000, Shcherbakov said.

According to experts interviewed by the publication, replacing the ICE with an electric motor is likely to be expensive, since €1,000 costs only the cost of the work itself. According to some estimates, the electric motor and battery will cost from 650 thousand to 1 million rubles. It is not known where traction batteries will be located in machines that are not intended for them and what the population's response will be, taking into account the lack of charging infrastructure and other factors.[1]
