2022: Naumen KMS Implementation Results

The Russian manufacturer of engineering plumbing Valtec has introduced the Naumen Knowledge Management System (Naumen KMS) in the technical department. This knowledge base has optimized the work of the department, increasing the productivity of employees. The Naumen product replaced the Confluence solution in the company from the foreign IT vendor Atlassian, who left Russia. This was announced on March 16, 2023 by Naumen.

Based on Naumen KMS, the organization has created a full-fledged knowledge base: it combines materials used for technical support, development and implementation of new products, as well as expertise and laboratory data. The solution helped speed up the search for internal information and manage document versioning, making technical support and product quality control more efficient.

Previously, we managed knowledge in the Confluence system, but its functionality was not enough, which is why some of the content was stored in folders on local disks. The Naumen KMS platform, which we chose as an alternative, turned out to be multifunctional and easy to learn. With its help, we optimized the work of the technical department, - said Dmitry Zhigalov, technical director of VALTEC.

Built-in templates in Naumen KMS help employees save time when working with the product catalog. They organize the content and can distribute parts of the same material - for example, "Articles," "Labels and Packaging," "Development," "Tests and Quality Control" - into the corresponding sections. The search engine, which works by analogy with Yandex and Google services, allows technical support engineers to find answers to complex questions in product materials and documents, for example, in GOSTs, in a few seconds.

The knowledge base and information management are handled by all VALTEC employees. Designers, marketers, technical writers, engineers and others involved in the development of new products and refinement of existing ones maintain relevant documentation on the Naumen KMS platform and can both switch between different versions of documents and see updates in the personalized notification feed.

A good project involves not only the implementation of an IT system, but also the construction of knowledge management processes, taking into account the specifics of the business. It is important that all employees involved are aware of content updates and understand that any necessary information can be found in the knowledge base. Our team, using the Naumen KMS product, helps to build such processes, and this avoids situations where, for example, the same documents are rewritten several times, - commented Sergei Popov, Director of the Department of Contact Centers and Robotic Systems Naumen.

Eight months after the introduction of Naumen KMS, 100% of technical employees use the knowledge base. In the near future, VALTEC plans to connect sales, suppliers and customers to the platform.
