2023: Product Announcement

The Moscow company "ElTi" received a registration certificate for a medical product of its own design - a titanium mesh for surgical soft tissue repair. Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, spoke about this in early March 2023.

Titanium mesh serves as an implant - it replaces connective tissue. It is used in surgical operations, for the treatment of diseases and injuries of the abdominal organs, in gynecology, orthopedics, plastic surgery. The main difference between the development and the polypropylene mesh implants most often used in surgery is high biocompatibility, which reduces the risk of material rejection.

The capacity of the enterprise will allow the production of up to seven thousand products per year. As Vladislav Ovchinsky said, by March 2023, the manufacturer had reached preliminary agreements on the supply of material to Russian medical institutions. In addition, work is underway to obtain a marketing authorization for titanium suture. It can be used to sew skin, subcutaneous fat tissue of muscles and tendons, according to the official website of the mayor of Moscow.

ElTi is a resident of the Moscow biomedical site Mosmedpark, managed by the Strogino technopark. On its territory are located medical and pharmaceutical production, as well as testing laboratories and clinical research centers. The manufacturer is also a member of the Moscow Innovation Cluster, thanks to which it enjoys financial support from the city: the company was allocated a grant in the amount of about 300 thousand rubles for the purchase of equipment. At the same time, the total volume of investments in this project by mid-March 2023 was not disclosed.[1]
