Flights of a helicopter-type drone were BAS-200 organized within the framework of the beacon project "Aerobispilot cargo delivery," launched by "Russian Post." The pilot series of transportation was carried out by the National Center for Helicopter Engineering named after M.L. Mile and N.I. Kamov Holding "Helicopters of Russia." The unmanned aerial vehicle flew at low temperatures in the Salekhard area of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
The project is being implemented as part of the implementation of the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation and on the organization of flights of unmanned aircraft in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
According to the Rostec aviation cluster, BAS-200 flights to Yamal became the first successful experience in cargo transportation in Russia with heavy unmanned aerial vehicles of the helicopter type in the Far North. BAS-200 was introduced into the work of the Russian Post and provided air transportation of mail beyond the Arctic Circle - across the Ob River from Salekhard to the city of Labytnangi, where it landed at a peripheral point. Flights took place in 30-degree frost, and the mass of the payload for each of the tests was 10 kilograms, the state corporation noted.
{{quote 'BAS-200 proved high performance of all systems. Flights took place at high intensity - up to seven flights a day. At the same time, the unmanned aviation system has demonstrated high efficiency. Interflight training took no more than 20 minutes and practically did not exceed the time required to load mail. A series of successful flights of high efficiency, carried out in polar conditions, without exaggeration, a breakthrough in the unmanned industry, which confirmed the prospects for the use of BAS-200 and similar vehicles for delivering goods to hard-to-reach territories, "said Oleg Gulyaev, First Deputy General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding. }}
