Two domestic scanners ElarSkan A0 and ElarSkan A2-400KS supplied to specialists of PPC Roskadastre for digitization of materials contained in the Federal Spatial Data Fund (FFPD). Elar announced this on March 28, 2023.

With the help of this equipment, state topographic maps and plans, compilation and publishing originals, as well as circulation prints of general geographic, political-administrative, scientific reference, historical archival maps are translated into digital form.

In addition, scanners work with books and albums with text and graphic content: this group of printed materials includes catalogs of coordinates of state systems, leveling points, astrocatalogs, technical reports, cartographic atlases and collections of various thematic maps. Among the oldest documents, for example, the Geographical Atlas of the Russian Empire, published in 1848 in St. Petersburg.

ElarScan scanners for March 2023 provide the optimal level of scanning technologies: the provided formats, as well as the speed and quality of digitization, most fully meet modern needs. In addition, these are not the first ELAR scanners used by us in our work: earlier, the institution had already accumulated a lot of positive experience in the operation of this technique, "said Viktor Veniaminovich Shiryaev, head of the FFPD materials scanning department.

According to him, the use of digitized publications will help improve the quality and efficiency of user service and create more comfortable conditions for working with large amounts of information. In addition, this will ensure accessibility to materials that have previously been difficult or limited to provide in analog form. All electronic copies obtained with the help of ElarScan will be used to ensure the safety of the materials of the Federal Spatial Data Fund of Rosreestr.
