2024: ATM announcement with built-in passport scanner and artificial intelligence system

In August 2024, BFS introduced an innovative ATM with an integrated passport scanner and an artificial intelligence system for remote customer service. The new device, dubbed a "digital office," allows users to access most banking products and services without visiting a bank branch in person.

A key feature of the new ATM is a special software and hardware module with artificial intelligence, developed by the Russian company Smart Engines. The system is capable of detecting more than 60 signs of falsifications of the Russian passport in the optical, ultraviolet and infrared ranges.

The passport scanner built into the BFS digital office was created by a domestic manufacturer of high-tech equipment. Intek Group of Companies AI algorithms check the originality and security elements of the document form, detect mechanical interventions, including photo switching and other data manipulations.

Technical Director of BFS Artem Krukovets stressed that the new solution can significantly expand the geography of the presence of banks, improve the availability of financial services and customer experience. "BFS ATMs are 80% made up of Russian components, and in the near future the company plans to localize 100% of production," Krukovets said in August 2024.

Smart Engines CEO Vladimir Arlazarov stressed the importance of introducing innovative technologies taking into account security issues. He stated that document authentication technologies are designed to protect both businesses and citizens from fraud.

The module for authenticating passports is a completely domestic development and does not contain foreign components. The OCR technology used in it is a proprietary development of Smart Engines. The company's software products are included in the unified register of Russian programs.

Installation of domestic ATMs in Moscow began

The production is located in the industrial park "Rudnevo" for 5.5 thousand square meters. m. It is planned that the plant will create at least 70 jobs.
