Sberbank completed the restoration of the Museum-Reserve "Stalingrad Battle" in Volgograd and launched an interactive excursion

2023: Completion of restoration and launch of AR excursion

In the museum-reserve "Battle of Stalingrad" with the support of Sberbank, restoration work was completed - the panorama "Defeat of the Nazi troops near Stalingrad" and four dioramas were updated. Also for the museum, Sber developed an AR-excursion "The History of Unconquered Stalingrad." Sberbank reported this on May 26, 2023.

During the restoration, work was carried out to clean and strengthen paintings and subject plans. The reflective screen located above the viewing platform was also replaced and subject plans with historical plots were restored.

Thanks to the AR technologies of Sberbank, it was possible to "revive" the exhibits of the museum. To do this, experts from SberAR/VR Lab and the SberMarketing agency created an augmented reality (AR) tour using visual positioning technologies (naviar SDK) and three-dimensional video (Volumetricvideo).

The AR tour allows you to get acquainted in more depth and in detail with museum exhibits, for example, active tags located on the central window of the Commander's Hall, which presents the most valuable rarities - awards of military leaders participating in the battle on the Volga, provide an opportunity to get more complete information. By click, a photo of the commander appears in front of the user, and the announcer talks about the history of the award.

If you point camera to the sculpture "Victory," then smartphone letters will appear on the screen that the soldiers wrote to their relatives during the war years. Touching on the image of the letter, you can get acquainted with the thoughts and experiences of the soldiers. And as soon as the diorama "Central Crossing of the Volga" appears in the smartphone's camera, the events captured in the picture come to life: the plane takes off, the characters begin to move.
