On June 21, 2023, the company Wildberries announced the start of using electric vehicles unmanned trucks Evocargo. Moscow area Transportation on cars without drivers was launched at the marktetplay distribution center in Elektrostal near Moscow.

According to the press service of the retailer, movement is carried out along a given route, which is determined by the engineer-operator, at the time of the test its length is 2.5 km. The machine independently moves goods loaded into it in advance between various units of the company's log center, where they are further processed and sorted. The project is being implemented jointly with a large Russian company Evocargo, which provides logistics service based on autonomous trucks of its own production.

We plan that the use of such electric vehicles will improve the efficiency of our logistics for partners and buyers. At the first stage, the speed of movement of goods using a machine in a warehouse can grow up to 2 times, which will further increase the speed of delivery of orders to buyers, "Wildberries said in a statement.

Every day, an electric car carries more than 50 thousand units of goods, including clothing, household goods, electronics, but also bulky things. The total carrying capacity of the vehicle reaches 2 tons.

Wildberries said that transportation safety and navigation are provided by special highly sensitive light and sound sensors, satellite navigation, video cameras. Also, in case of an emergency stop, the truck is additionally controlled by the operator - one specialist can track the operation of up to 10 autonomous cars at the same time.

After the completion of the pilot project, the fleet of electric vehicles is planned to be expanded to transport goods between several Wildberries logistics centers.
