Release of EVO-1
On November 11, 2020, Evocargo announced to TAdviser the launch of a self-driving truck. Malotonnazhnik EVO-1 completely based on Russian developments, is equipped with a hybrid power system from electric batteries and hydrogen fuel cells, supports technologies for interaction with the connected smart road infrastructure (V2X).
This is an automated vehicle with a degree of autonomy of 4 + according to the standard international classification.
Preparing for the production of several small-tonnage electric autonomous trucks "Evocargo" on pre-order, which will begin to be delivered in April 2021. The first buyers of the drone are enterprises of the oil and gas industry, owners of warehouse complexes and logistics companies.
In the first stage, Evocargo trucks will be used in closed areas, providing a high degree of safety.
On November 11, 2020, the Evocargo truck drove through the intellectual segment of the Central Ring Road, demonstrating the readiness of the unmanned platform for operation during main transportation. In this case, the machine moves with active interaction with the connected elements of the road infrastructure (V2X) and the smart road system over a safe protocol.
This product is part of the future ecosystem created by Evocargo, according to its business model of providing cargo transportation services using electric drones (Driverless-Truck-as-a-Service). The company is one of the first in the world to develop an electric unmanned propulsion service, which will begin to be provided in the second half of 2021. Customers will be able to do without the purchase of a truck and capital costs, paying for transport services by subscription or per kilometer.
Transportation of goods using drones, as a service, is beneficial to customers who, as a rule, do not have specialists who are ready to maintain an autonomous truck and manage it. This is one of the main obstacles to the development of the unmanned vehicle market according to the traditional model, which implies that the company buys a car and operates it independently, turning to the manufacturer only for technical support and maintenance. By building an ecosystem around a self-driving technology-based logistics service, we are addressing this challenge for customers, Andrey Bolshakov, head and founder of Evocargo.

The Evocargo truck was designed from scratch as an unmanned vehicle. It lacks expensive systems designed for the driver: cab, chair, steering system. Evocargo trucks are economically more profitable and pay off faster than those converted from ordinary ones. Built-in safety systems are aimed at caring for pedestrians and other road users.
The machine is equipped with a hybrid power system - from electric batteries and from hydrogen fuel cells. With a full charge of batteries and hydrogen refueling, which takes only five minutes, the car can travel up to 1000 km without stopping. The hybrid power system allows you to increase the utilization of the machine by reducing downtime, which is important for trunk transportation. The combination of factors that reduce the cost of the Evocargo machine without affecting productivity and safety makes it possible to significantly reduce costs - up to 60% of the cost of transportation.
Evocargo technologies have export potential, thanks to a number of features compared to their counterparts. The company plans to start active international expansion in 2021. Including it is ready to start providing the service of trunk transportation according to the service business model in 2022 in countries where the regulatory framework, including Russia, will allow.
