2023: Production Launch

In July 2023, Roscosmos announced the start of production of proprietary processor modules. We are talking about the products of the Scientific and Production Association (NPO) of Automation named after Academician N.A. Semikhatov, which is part of the state corporation Roscosmos.

NPO engineers have developed a line of processor modules, which are compact devices installed in a device for performing the necessary calculations. The new module includes a processor, memory and various interfaces depending on the modification and purpose of the device.

Our engineers have developed a line of processor modules. These are compact devices that are installed in the device and carry out the necessary calculations, that is, a kind of "brain" of any device, - said Mikhail Izyumov, General Director of NPO Automation.

According to the press service of Roscosmos, processor modules can be built into any devices where the display is used. By July 2023, they are installed on domestic agricultural equipment, for which the company is developing control systems, including unmanned ones.

It is noted that earlier "NPO Automatics" used imported devices, but since 2022, having the production of full-cycle microelectronics, it began to manufacture them independently. This is not the first semiconductor project of Roscosmos.

Earlier, the state corporation developed a series of chips - the so-called quadrature modulators - for promising satellites of navigation, communications, telecommunications, space exploration and eco-monitoring. The 5x4 mm chips will become part of modern radio links for transmitting information from the satellite to ground and space objects and will significantly increase the speed, stability and quality of high-speed broadband communication.[1]
