IQ vs DBMS

Information on a goods turnover of the company is accumulated in a transaction system on a basis DBMS Sybase ASE. For the analysis of business indicators and preparation of the reporting the same system was originally used, however in process of growth of volumes of business load of it increased so that delays in work at start of reports became inadmissible.

He emphasizes that the problems connected with deceleration suffered also other divisions working with the corporate database, for example, of service of warehouse and transport logistics.

Solution

The system of a business intelligence at the heart of which — the data warehouse was necessary for effective solution of the current problems of preparation of the reporting. The choice as Sybase IQ storage was predetermined by type of the used DBMS: as the head of department of the software Alexey Shamov explained, IQ allows to load data from the ASE server by rather simple methods that significantly simplified a problem of integration.

Sybase IQ was unrolled in SIA International Ltd with advisory support of specialists of Sybase.

As means of preparation of the reporting the software of Business Objects was used.

Users of an analytical system are chiefs of departments and leading specialists of department of sale of medicines and department of deliveries and also department of affiliated enterprises.

The main part of tasks was executed by specialists of the company independently. Works are performed within two months.

Results
