2023: Completion of the ground complex of measuring, information collection and processing
Holding Russian space systems"" (RKS, part of the State Corporation "") Roskosmos is completing the creation of a ground-based complex of measuring, collection and processing tools information (KSISO) for launching the Angara-A5 launch vehicle into orbit. Roscosmos announced this on September 19, 2023.
The ground infrastructure includes the Eastern Command and Measurement Point (VKIP) created by the specialists of the RKS - the basis of the Vostochny cosmodrome measuring complex, as well as the route measuring point under construction on Sakhalin, located along the flight path of the launch vehicle.
Special software, also developed in the RKS, provides telemetry reception about the state of the launch vehicle simultaneously from geographically spaced ground points - this is an important element of the operation of the ground complex. This technology allows "not to lose" information from the missile, regardless of high radio interference during withdrawal.
Angara-A5 is a heavy-class launch vehicle, it is larger than all those created in September 2023 in Russia, it has many sensors and in real time it will receive huge amounts of data at the command and measurement point. When creating VKIP, the capabilities of hardware and software were laid down, allowing you to work with increased amounts of processed information.
We are preparing VKIP for the launch of future modules of the Russian orbital station, promising transport and cargo ships, which will be launched into orbit by the Angara-A5 launch vehicle. According to the plans for the creation of an orbital station, the launch of launch vehicles from Vostochny will be carried out at an inclination of 97 degrees, that is, in the direction of the north pole of the Earth. To do this, at the latitude of the Arctic Circle, it is planned to build an additional route measuring point in the area of the village of Tiksi in Yakutia, said Maxim SHCHERBAKOV, Deputy General Director - General Designer of the RKS for Ground Systems and Complexes.

Information from the aircraft equipment of the launch vehicle is received by ground measuring stations located along the route of its output. Information is transmitted from ground points to processing centers, where the analysis of the operation of the systems and engines of the apparatus is carried out and reporting on the flight progress is carried out. The flight of the launch vehicle takes place under the control of the onboard control system in accordance with the flight mission.
The main centers for collecting and analyzing information are the VKIP and the Information Analysis Center, located in Moscow on the territory of the RKS: real-time information on the flight of the launch vehicle is processed here and complete information is processed to assess the performance of flight test and launch tasks.
