2023: Getinge bought Healthmark Industries for $320m

On October 11, 2023, Getinge, a developer of equipment for operating rooms, intensive care units, sterilization facilities, as well as biomedical institutions, announced an agreement to acquire the American firm Healthmark Industries Co. The transaction amount is $320 million.

Healthmark was founded in 1969. The company specializes in the development of technologies for sterilizing medical tools. Healthmark's headquarters and main manufacturing facilities are located in Fraser (Michigan). The company also has an enterprise in Bobigny (France). Healthmark has a global workforce of about 400, with 90% of sales coming from the American market.

Getinge announced an agreement to acquire US firm Healthmark Industries Co.

The transaction was financed with cash and credit assets. Getinge expects to fully integrate Healthmark into its structure by the end of 2024: this process will not entail any significant costs. The deal is closed and does not require further regulatory approval. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Getinge's position in the infection prevention and sterilization sector of medical equipment in the United States. In turn, Healthmark will have the opportunity to expand sales in Europe and Asia, as well as accelerate international expansion.

We are excited to integrate Healthmark into the Getinge structure. The merger benefits both sides in light of the minimal duplication of our product families. By combining assets, we will be well positioned to improve customer experience, strengthen control over product supply chains and expand our presence across markets, including outside the United States, "said Mark Basile, President and CEO of Healthmark.[1]
