History

2023: Launch of mass production of components for blood collection systems

The Medical Technology Plant has established a serial production of bilateral needles for taking venous blood with an imaging camera in Kamensk-Uralsky, Sverdlovsk Region. It is expected that this will allow the company to begin production of venous blood collection systems under the ZMT brand. This information was shared with Zdrav.Expert on October 25, 2023 by representatives of the Industrial Development Fund.

In the Sverdlovsk region launched the production of components for blood collection systems for 130 million rubles

Investments in the project amounted to almost 130 million rubles, 70 million rubles of which were provided to the FRP in the form of a preferential loan under the joint federal-regional program "Components," and 30 million rubles were allocated by the Fund for Technological Development of Industry of the Sverdlovsk Region.

The Medical Technology Plant consistently develops the direction of production of disposable medical devices for the diagnosis of invitro. The loan of the FRP allowed in a short time to organize the production of another component of the system for taking blood - bilateral needles with an imaging camera, "said Nikolay Polyakov, General Director of Medical Technology Plant JSC.

The double-sided needle is one of three elements of the venous blood collection system, which, in addition to the needle, includes a vacuum tube and a holder. The plant has been producing vacuum tubes since 2018, and in the first quarter of 2024, production of the second component of the system, the holder, will begin. The implementation of the project will allow the company to abandon the procurement of supplied other manufacturers and proceed to the production of a system for taking venous blood from components produced at its own facilities.

The needle imaging camera helps the medical staff correctly determine the moment the needle hits the patient's vein, reducing the formation of hematomas and injuries and possible soreness, as well as practically eliminating repeated punctures. The design of the needles will be indiscriminate to avoid disconnection of elements and leveling the risks of infection of medical personnel during blood sampling.

The company estimates the need for systems for taking venous blood in Russia at about 260 million units per year. The Medical Technology Plant intends to produce up to 40 million units annually, which will provide up to 16% of the need for these medical devices.

The main customers of the systems for taking venous blood are medical institutions of various profiles, including medical and preventive institutions, blood transfusion stations, clinical and diagnostic laboratories and treatment rooms, as well as veterinary clinics and stations.

According to the plant, until 2021, two-sided needles with an imaging camera were not manufactured in the Russian Federation, and market needs were met by one hundred percent due to imports. In 2021, in the Dubna Special Economic Zone (Moscow Region), two FRP borrowers, independently of each other, began production of such needles: Eiliton launched production with a capacity of up to 100 million units per year, Garnet Bio Tech - with a capacity of up to 80 million units per year. Thanks to this, dependence on imports decreased from 100 to 50%. The creation of a new workshop at the Medical Technology Plant will reduce the share of imports on the Russian market to 34%, representatives of the plant say.

2021: Increased production of infectious disease doctor's clothing kits, masks and vacuum tubes

In 2021, the Medical Technology Plant, using a loan from the Industrial Development Fund in the amount of 100 million rubles, modernized production and increased the production of kits for an infectious disease doctor, surgical masks and vacuum tubes for taking venous blood.
