2023: Modernization of the Esports Center
St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications named after M.A. Bonch-Bruevich, together with NtechLab, are in the active phase of modernization of the Center for eSports, located on the territory of St. Petersburg State University of Science and Technology. This was announced on October 18, 2023 by the press secretary of the vice-governor of St. Petersburg S.V. Kazarina.
The renewal of the Center was designed to meet the requirements of the federal standard for sports training computer sport"." In particular, these requirements include the mandatory presence of a sports hall, since e-sportsmen must be physically developed and ready for serious loads in preparation for competitions.
E-sports have long left the category of entertainment and turned into a significant digital industry. Our University of Telecommunications systematically and consistently develops student computer sports. For this, all conditions have been created: there is its own eSports Center, a cyberarena and a team of specialists who are ready to work with young people. In 2022, the university successfully held the All-Russian competition in computer sports "Student Esports League." I am sure that the modernized base of SPbGUT will allow carrying out and accepting new significant projects at both the regional and federal levels, noted the vice-governor of St. Petersburg Stanislav Kazarin.

A large multifunctional hall will also appear in the Center, which will be able to work in the auditorium, cyberaren, as well as drone racing platforms.
Already in October 2023, on the basis of the Center for eSports, SPbGUT, there is a department of sports training in computer sports SSHOR "Comet," subordinate to the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports.
