Peregrine System

2023: Product Announcement

On December 19, 2023, Ablative Solutions announced the Peregrine System platform for the treatment of hypertension. This system allows renal denervation through a minimally invasive procedure, which reduces the risk of complications and shortens the rehabilitation period.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of September 2023, hypertension (high blood pressure) is observed in about 1.3 billion people around the world. Moreover, about 46% of adults with this disease are unaware of its presence. Meanwhile, hypertension, among other complications, can cause serious damage to the heart, as well as cause a stroke, leading to rupture or blockage of the arteries that supply blood and oxygen to the brain. The ailment also causes kidney lesions, leading to kidney failure.

Peregrine System

The Peregrine system is designed to treat patients with uncontrolled hypertension taking antihypertensive drugs. During the procedure, a patented infusion catheter and absolute alcohol (ethyl alcohol, practically free of water) are used. The operation takes place with minimal intervention in the patient's body: ablation of the sympathetic nerves surrounding the renal arteries is carried out in order to reduce blood pressure. It is these nerves that send signals to the brain that cause vascular spasm and, as a result, an increase in blood pressure. Clinical trials of the complex yielded positive results.
