In 2022-2023 alone, seven accidents were recorded at the Syktyvkar-Ukhta section, as a result of which tens of thousands of residents of the north of the Komi Republic and the entire Nenets Autonomous Okrug were temporarily left without access to communication services. Subscribers suffered not only from Rostelecom, but also from other operators who do not have their own trunk resources. The backup line from Syktyvkar to Ukhta has a capacity of up to 200 Gbps and is a significant stage in the creation and maintenance of telecommunication infrastructure in these regions,

Emergency situations occurred mainly due to damage to the communication cable by third parties during uncoordinated excavation work in the security zone of the communication line. An additional backup data link allows you to redistribute traffic to networks in emergency cases and minimize negative consequences.

The laid fiber-optic line stretched from the village of Seregova through the city of Emva and the village of Sindor (Knyazhpogostsky district) to Ukhta and amounted to 252 km. The construction was complicated by difficult natural and climatic conditions, as well as numerous intersections with roads, large main gas pipelines and high-voltage power lines that require coordination with the owners of the facilities.
