Presentation of the drone "Geoscan Pioneer FPV"

Geoskan Group of Companies on April 11, 2024 demonstrated an FPV-quadcopter of the Pioneer line, specially developed for youth drone racing competitions, as well as accompanying software for virtual flight training. Products will be available for order in the first half of 2024.

The Geoscan Pioneer FPV quadrocopter is designed for rapid indoor flights. Thanks to its special frame and motors, the drone is ideal for honing piloting and shooting skills. The updated board allows you to connect more powerful motors, provides more maneuverability, drone carrying capacity, improved speed characteristics. ExpressLRS support provides reliable communication with the remote control at a distance of up to 1 km. The autopilot board is compatible with the Geoscan Pioneer quadcopter ecosystem, which opens up wide possibilities for programming and creating various modifications.

In addition to the quadcopter, the company will release a special FPV simulator for practicing manual piloting skills. The program simulates the flight characteristics of Geoskan Pioneer FPV quadcopters, which will allow you to master the flight technique in virtual space without the risk of damaging the device. The simulator provides the ability to set several scenarios for the use of drones with the recreation of various external conditions.

Drone racing is one of the most popular ways for children to start in the world of drones. The user community has long asked us to make an FPV drone, but Geoscan developed in the direction of flying robotics and did not consider the FPV direction as a priority. And now that we're introducing an FPV quadcopter, we're not just talking about a racing drone, but an element of the Geoscan Pioneer ecosystem. Thanks to the compatibility of the autopilot board with the Pioneer ecosystem, users will be able to "pump" their drones and create cool projects in the field of autonomous flights. These capabilities and additional elements extend the range of application scenarios and provide room for experimentation. So, with special spherical protection, the drone turns into a sports shell for playing football, basketball and quidditch, - commented Mikhail Lutsky, head of the educational projects department of the Geoskan Group of Companies.

Development of autonomous flight simulator

The Geoskan group of companies has developed its own autonomous flight simulator for quadcopters of the Geoskan Pioneer line. It allows you to practice programming skills for both a single device and a group without using real drones. This software will be available to Geoscan Pioneer users in March 2024. The developer announced this on February 26, 2024. Read more here.

Drone swarm control solution presentation

The company "Geoscan" presented a solution for managing the swarm drones on the Geoskan Pioneer platform. Representatives of the company reported this TAdviser on February 7, 2024.

The Geoscan Pioneer drone swarm provides a simultaneous launch of a group of quadcopters to practice swarm intelligence and machine learning algorithms, as well as create drone shows. The kit includes 10 educational quadcopters and additional equipment necessary to organize a group flight of drones indoors.

Among the possibilities of the Geoskan Pioneer solution:

  • Swarm of drones "Geoscan Pioneer"
  • Development of unique projects with a whole group of quadcopters
  • Familiarity with group management algorithms drones
  • Python programming
  • Development of flight paths in Blender
  • Making Your Own Drone Show

The product is presented in two modifications - on the basis of the Geoscan Pioneer Basic or Geoscan Pioneer Mini quadcopters. The Pioneer Mini drone roy is suitable for beginners who have already mastered working with one quadcopter, and now they want to deepen their knowledge, gain new skills programming in and take the first steps in learning the algorithms of swarm intelligence. Group flight is carried out in safe airspace (3x3x3 m) and can last up to 10 minutes.

The Pioneer Basic drone Roy offers more opportunities for advanced users - high school students and students, participants in robotic competitions. The set allows high-precision group flight lasting up to 17 minutes over a larger area (8x8x4 m), solving more complex tasks such as joint navigation or object search, and creating light shows. Increased carrying capacity and the ability to connect additional modules allow you to install your own payload and open up new opportunities for research, told Geoskan.

Using two types of navigation - ultrasonic or infrared - allows you to create a local coordinate system in any room where classes or competitions are held. Thanks to this, quadcopters can exchange data on each other's position and carry out high-precision autonomous flight by a swarm of drones. At the same time, it is enough to arrange programmed drones with customized software in the right places and launch a flight mission, the company explained.

"The principles laid down in the algorithms of the swarm control system have great potential for application in various industries: from use in production logistics systems or delivery services to the organization of interaction of robotic systems for emergency response and environmental monitoring. Now such technologies are especially important to introduce into the educational process and show young people their use scenarios, "commented Alexey Yuretsky, General Director of Geoscan.
