The main goal of CodeMates is to simplify the search for professional contacts in the IT field. According to the creators, the project can radically change the way of communication and cooperation between specialists in the industry, promote the exchange of knowledge and experience. Most IT specialists work remotely in distributed teams, so the urgent question arises of finding colleagues in interests from collecting a team for a hackathon to involving a mentor. In CodeMates, you can find people for specific skills, stacks and interests. A machine learning-based recommendation system helps you match the perfect match based on the skills and features of interest, which makes this tool especially valuable for HR and startup communities.

Especially for the convenience and safety of Russian users, CodeMates was created in Telegram. According to a study by Mediascope, Telegram ranks fourth in the ranking of the most popular Internet resources. For developers, this is a very convenient platform that combines the functions of a messenger and a social network. You can communicate with new acquaintances in the usual messenger, no third-party settings and a minimum of time for registration. At the same time, user verification and all incoming questionnaires for February 2024 are carried out manually in order to level the risks of scammers and fake accounts entering the platform. Later, it is planned to automate the process using neural networks that will check the authenticity of accounts.

The interface is made in the format of a web application built into the bot. With the Telegram bot, users can swipe each other's questionnaires, similar to what happens in the Tinder app, send "super likes," customize their profiles and even receive notifications of mutual sympathy. And all this - without leaving Telegram.

The team was inspired to create CodeMates by the desire to simplify the search for professional contacts in IT.

We met our interface developer on aichi-mitapa. It turned out that he was passionate about startups - just like us. But how to find out if there is nothing on the badge except the name and company? Immediately write a list of interests. Then everyone could find what they are looking for: a friend, a partner in a startup or a mentor, for example. And it's even better that programmers have questionnaires, like in Tinder! Indeed, we thought how great it would be to have an online networking platform where programmers can find each other, discuss their ideas, find partners for projects, study or joint developments! - said Vlada Pukhkalo, a student at AI Talent Hub, ITMO University and Napoleon IT.

For 3 months, CodeMates has gone from the MVP stage to a full-fledged service, which is already used by more than 2,000 active users, 6,000 pairs have been formed, 39,840 interactions have been made, 13,041 likes have been delivered. The XOR team does not stop there and plans to further develop the platform, including improving the recommendation system based on the collected data on user interactions. According to students, the mark of potential users can reach 50-100 thousand people.
