Electric motors are developed and manufactured at the Ulan-Ude Instrument-Making Production Association (U-UPO, part of the KRET). They are made entirely of domestic components and, unlike foreign counterparts, have less weight with higher efficiency, Rostec said. As of April 2024, KRET is the only company in Siberia and the Far East developing a modern line of trolley-free, stepper electric motors and generators, the state corporation said.
