Platform launch

VK on August 13, 2024 announced the launch of a free service for organizing the work of tutors and students - VK Tutoria. On the online platform, users will be able to conduct classes, manage their schedules, store and share educational materials, and use a wide range of tools for productive work. In addition, the service has the functionality of creating a personal account for the teacher and student.

VK Tutoria combines the capabilities of such services for productivity as Calendar, Notes, data storage Mail.Ru cloud, built-in interactive collaboration board, as well as key communication tools - VK Messenger and VK Calls.

As specified in the company, the online platform does not yet have restrictions on the number of students and classes, and is also free for everyone. Classes can be held in both mobile and web versions of the service. Authorization on the platform is available using VK ID: teachers and students will be able to enter the service with one click without additional data entry and a complex registration procedure.

"We believe that the launch of the VK Tutoria service will help improve the process of knowledge transfer through digital technologies. Our goal is to provide each tutor with the opportunity to easily and easily share knowledge with their students and do so in a convenient format. The service is already available to a wide range of users, and we invite everyone to join it, "said Sergey Prokudin, head of the VK Tutoria product area.

Platform development

VK has developed a new platform for tutors, investments in the project amounted to 300 million rubles. This became known on June 20, 2024.

A service called VK Tutoria aims to simplify the organization of online tutors and meet the needs of students and their parents.

According to RBC, VK Tutoria will be integrated with existing Mail.ru services such as collaboration boards, calendar, notes and cloud storage. It is also planned to use "VK Messenger" and "VK Calls" to provide communication between tutors, students and their parents. The functionality of the platform will allow you to organize classes, control the schedule and exchange homework files.

By June 20, 2024, the service is at the testing stage on VK employees. The platform is expected to be monetized through subscriptions. According to the newspaper, the starting investment amounted to 200 million rubles, but according to a source close to the company, the total amount exceeded this estimate.

VK already has significant experience in distance education. In 2023, the company became the 100% owner of the Учи.ру educational platform, acquiring it for 8.7 billion rubles. Taking into account the share of 25% purchased back in 2020 for 3.75 billion rubles, total investments in this asset amounted to 12.45 billion rubles. In addition, VK is the controlling shareholder of Skillbox with a 55.28% stake and is developing the Tetrika platform, designed to prepare for the exam, OGE and Olympiads.

According to experts interviewed by the publication, at the expense of a significant audience, VK will gain an advantage in the market of services for tutors, but the question is how the company's offer will differ from existing services that have long proven themselves in the market. The option is a unified system for paying for tutors and a lower price offer.^[1]
