2024: T-FLEX PLM implementation

The enterprise for the production of industrial boilers "Hermes-Lipetsk" completed the introduction of the Russian software complex T-FLEX PLM from the company "Top Systems," which announced this on July 8, 2024.

As part of the project, work was carried out to adapt and integrate Russian software into the enterprise infrastructure and existing production processes, which made it possible to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operation in all departments of the enterprise during its reorganization.

The main task is to ensure the continuity of production and the operation of the enterprise in the new conditions of reorganization. This required:

  • eliminate dependence on foreign software systems and migrate to Russian software;
  • maintain the possibility of using the submitted design documentation in the production: drawings of all elements of the manufactured equipment, process charts, thermal and strength calculations performed according to European standards, drawings and calculations of equipment assembly devices;
  • create its own design department with building a complete cycle of preparation of design and technological documentation for the production of boiler equipment, since previously all design development was carried out at the head office of the concern in Europe;
  • Develop process and design conversion systems to enable integration into the new PLM system
  • train employees in industrial operation of the system in the shortest possible time, without stopping technological and production processes.

The project was launched in 5 months.

Due to the departure from the Russian market of the parent company and the gradual disconnection from the services for the preparation of design and technological documentation for the production of equipment, a transition to an alternative to European software was required.

Within the framework of the project, it was necessary to carry out:

  • preparation of the entire array of design and process documentation for migration from Siemens NX;
  • setting up the process of converting an array of documentation into this IT system;
  • Create a team of highly motivated and experienced employees to meet this global challenge within the company.
  • Selecting a software provider
  • Ensure a continuous production process during software implementation
  • preparation of a highly qualified team of designers and technologists for work in a new digital environment.

It was necessary to make a detailed and comprehensive comparison of alternatives available on the market for replacing foreign software, based on the following basic criteria: working with files in * prt format; presence in the Register of Russian Software; possibility to generate process specifications; A single PLM + CAD complex Integration with 1C ERP. The software products of two Russian PLM systems were compared with each other and with the capabilities of replaced foreign software.

The project was especially complex due to the large amount of legacy data in the format of the original Siemens NX IT system, which required the development of methods for transferring and converting data on parts, assemblies and products, their unification and ensuring the continuity of the production process based on Russian software. In total, there were more than 20,000 material objects.

{{quote 'To implement a project of this scale due to limited time, it was necessary to mobilize all internal resources of the company. It was necessary to properly configure the interaction between the implementation team, employees of the design and technology departments of the enterprise in order to maximize the efficiency of the implementation of new software. Without any doubt, the achieved result would not have been possible without the well-coordinated work of all divisions, since the most important asset of the enterprise is highly motivated employees with extensive experience, "said Alexey Tuleninov, Deputy General Director for Innovative Development, Hermes-Lipetsk LLC. }}

The work of its own design bureau was launched, more than 12,000 parts were integrated, 7,500 assembly units included in 332 products. Time for modeling a single product decreased by 33%.

Initially, the project was launched as a pilot, with the aim of automating the development of design and technological documentation by testing the basic functionality of the T-FLEX PLM software complex for solving application problems and further scaling. During the implementation of the project, Top Systems was additionally tasked with setting up the Teamcenter - Siemens NX historical data import module in T-FLEX PLM (T-FLEX DOCs - T-FLEX CAD), as well as setting up a *.prt to *.grb conversion service for later use in production processes. The task was especially significant for the customer, since the timing of requesting and providing inherited data from the parent company was strictly regulated, and the amount of information transmitted was huge - several dozen TB. The abundance of standard functionality, the flexibility of the T-FLEX PLM capabilities settings for a specific task, together with the joint and coordinated work of the implementation teams on both sides, made it possible to successfully and timely implement these tasks. During the project, Hermes-Lipetsk employees underwent several specialized training programs, received timely advice on issues that arise when working in the new system. All this provided Hermes-Lipetsk with painless integration into the new PLM system, eliminating data and time loss, said Ekaterina Andreeva, project manager of the Top Systems implementation department.
