2024: Appointment as CEO of Kinopoisk

Online cinema "Kinopoisk," part of the ecosystem "Yandex," July 11, 2024 announced the change of CEO. It was Alexander Dunaevsky, replacing Artem Savinovsky in this post.

Alexander Dunaevsky previously served as director of product at Kinopoisk. His responsibilities included the development of ticket service and editorial media. Before joining Kinopoisk, he worked for Yandex Direct, Afisha, Gazprom Media Holding and Bazelevs Group.

Market participants interviewed by Kommersant consider the appointment of Dunaevsky a logical step. He is well acquainted with the internal processes of the company and participated in the launch of many projects of the online cinema. The departure of Artem Savinovsky, who headed Kinopoisk since 2016, was also expected. Savinovsky will continue to work as CEO of Yandex.

The change in the leadership of Kinopoisk took place shortly after the completion of the restructuring of Yandex. On July 15, 2024, the Dutch Yandex N.V. closed the sale of the Russian Yandex, which made it possible to carry out personnel changes in the online cinema.

The decision to change the general director may indicate the gradual separation of the business of the Plus Fantech division (unites entertainment media services, including Kinopoisk, Yandex Music, Yandex Afisha, Bookmate) from the business of the main Yandex, said a top manager of one of the film production studios contacted by the newspaper. According to the interlocutor, with the arrival of Mr. Dunaevsky, one can expect both the appearance of new functions in the service and possible acquisitions by Kinopoisk of other market participants. The new general director of Kinopoisk, the interlocutor believes, will have more time and opportunities for the development of the service.[1]
