On August 2, 2023, the magistrate of the Zamoskvorechye district of Moscow fined Yandex CEO Artem Savinovsky 200 thousand rubles for showing films on the Kinopoisk service with LGBT demonstrations without the 18 + label. Savinovsky drew up a protocol under Part 2 of Article 6.21.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (dissemination among minors of information demonstrating non-traditional sexual relations and (or) preferences or capable of causing minors to want to change their gender).
As reported TASS with reference to the materials of the case, announced in court, the employees Roskomnadzor noticed that the films "Greed," "Green Book," "Ideal Strangers," "Edges of Reason," "Bridget Jones Diary" and other films, which contain information about non-traditional sexual relations. At the same time, films are marked with the mark "16 +" instead of the law "18 +." After that, Roskomnadzor drew up a protocol on an administrative offense against Savinovsky.
Representatives of Artem Savinovsky noted in court that they did not agree with the conclusions of Roskomnadzor. In their opinion, the department did not prove that minors could watch these films at Kinopoisk. Moreover, according to the rules of the company, minors can subscribe to this service.
Yandex said that we are talking about a protocol according to which Kinopoisk has already been fined on July 4, 2023. The company stressed that it replaced age labeling with "18 +" as soon as the law began to demand. The law and regulations in their current form do not provide sufficient objective criteria to determine the demonstration of non-traditional relations, Yandex said on August 2, 2023[2]+[3]
