2024: National Project Announcement

On July 18, 2024, it became known that the national project "Means of Production and Automation" would be launched in Russia, aimed at developing machine tools, industrial robots and automation of production. This decision was made following a strategic session led by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

According to the government portal, the new national project includes three federal projects covering key areas: means of production and the tool industry, robotics and personnel training. The main goal of the project is to provide technological solutions to a wide range of manufacturing enterprises in Russia.

First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov stressed that one of the main results of the implementation of the national project should be Russia's entry by 2030 into the number of 25 leading countries in the world in terms of robotization. It is planned to achieve an indicator of 145 robots per 10 thousand employees of industrial enterprises.

Mikhail Mishustin noted significant progress in the industry in 2023. The production of machine tools increased by 60%, and the production of products in the field of robotics increased by more than 50%. These achievements served as the basis for the expansion of the existing program to the scale of the national project.

As part of the implementation of the national project, the Ministry of Industry and Trade was instructed to analyze the current measures to support domestic machine tool builders and determine the demand for new measures for inclusion in the project. In addition, the ministry should prepare draft methods for calculating the indicators of the national project, including the indicator "density of robotization."

The implementation of the national project "Means of production and automation" is designed to contribute to the technological leadership of Russia, increase the competitiveness of the domestic industry and create high-tech workplaces. The deadline for the execution of all instructions for the formation of a passport of the national project is set for the second half of July 2024.^[1]
