2024: Product Announcement
In August 2024, the state corporation GLONASS announced the domestic A-GLONASS (A-GNSS) technology, designed to speed up location determination on mobile devices. This development is the first Russian analogue of the Western A-GPS system and is designed to significantly reduce the time for obtaining exact coordinates of smartphone users and navigators.
The head of GLONASS JSC Alexei Raikevich announced the readiness of the new technology for installation on smartphones with domestic operating systems, Russian satellite navigation equipment, emergency call devices and tachographs. The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation has already entered A-GLONASS into the unified register of domestic software, confirming its compliance with all the necessary requirements.
According to the developers, the main advantage of A-GLONASS is a significant reduction in the time required to determine the exact location of the user. The technology is especially effective in urban environments, where dense development can make it difficult to receive a satellite signal. A-GLONASS solves this problem by transmitting auxiliary data via the Internet, mobile communication networks and Wi-Fi.
Our technology makes it possible to make invisible to a person the expectation necessary to determine the exact location when opening applications, electronic maps and navigators, "said Alexey Raikevich. |
He also noted that, unlike its foreign counterparts, A-GLONASS does not transfer data on the location of a mobile device to the servers of foreign companies, which increases the information security of users.
The Deputy Minister industry and trade of Russia Vasily Shpak praised the significance of the new development. According to him, A-GLONASS excludes dependence on Russia foreign technologies and equipment in the field of ground navigation, which is especially important in the context of possible restrictions on the operation of such solutions.[1]
