Biography

2024: Death in the Kursk region during shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On August 15, 2024, it became known that an employee of Rostelecom was killed in shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region. The tragic incident occurred in the border area, where specialists carried out work to restore communication.

According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, on August 13, 2024, two employees of the Kursk branch of Rostelecom were attacked using unidentified weapons. As a result of the attack, the leading engineer of the company's service center, Alexander Nekrasov, died at the scene. His colleague, Andrei Bariev, was injured and was taken to the Kursk Regional Clinical Hospital.

The Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia Maksut Shadayev commented on the situation, noting that this is the first case during the SVO when signalmen become victims of an attack, fulfilling their professional duty.

The deceased Alexander Nekrasov worked in the Rostelecom branch since 2002, devoting more than 20 years of his professional activity to the company. The tragedy occurred in the city of Rylsk, located in the border zone of the Kursk region.

This incident is not the first case of attacks on civilian personnel in the border regions of the Kursk region. Earlier it was reported about attacks on medical workers and employees of energy companies. On August 7, 2024, the Ukrainian military attacked an ambulance near the city of Suja, killing the driver and paramedic.

According to the Acting Governor of the Kursk Region Alexei Smirnov, since the beginning of the military operation, 12 civilians were killed as a result of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region in August 2024, 121 people were injured, including ten children.[1]
