2024: Project Launch

In Azerbaijan, the digital systems of the Ministry of Science and Education have been integrated into the state cloud platform G-Cloud. This became known on November 7, 2024. Implementation is carried out in accordance with the presidential decree of Ilham Aliyev on the formation of a centralized infrastructure of June 3, 2019.

According to Azintelecom, the infrastructure basis of the project is computing complexes located in Baku and Yevlakh. The process sites meet the international requirements of TIER III, ISO 20,000, ISO 22301 and ISO 27001, which confirms their status as the first certified data centers in the South Caucasus region.

A single state region G-Cloud was launched in Azerbaijan

The Department of Informatization of the Educational System has transferred key information resources to the Baku data processing center under the management of AznTelecom. The placement process is implemented through a colocation mechanism, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the critical infrastructure.

The architecture of the national cloud is developed using methodologies tested in the USA, Great Britain, Turkey, Norway, Ireland and Estonia. The operation of the platform is supported by a control center with continuous parameter control.

Consolidation of digital resources in a single space optimizes public spending on information technology while improving the efficiency of computing systems. The project provides for the creation of a fault-tolerant infrastructure with multi-level data protection.

Funding for the transition program to G-Cloud is ₼9 million from the state budget. The allocation covers the costs of software, component deployment and maintenance of connected structures. The scale of the project covers the digital transformation of 36 government departments.[1][2]
