2024: Developing a Digital Economy Strategy
Azerbaijan The development of a digital economy strategy has been completed, which is aimed at forming a sustainable and technologically developed economic system by 2030. This became known in September 2024 during panel discussions at the Chain Reaction 2024 forum, where the executive director of 4SIM Azerbaijan Fariz Jafarov presented the key provisions of the new strategy.
According to Caliber.Az, the development of the document was carried out from 2023 and completed by the fall of 2024. As part of the strategy, 51 major initiatives were identified, which are planned to be implemented until 2030. These initiatives are aimed at developing digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, big data processing and digital transformation of various sectors of the economy.
According to Fariz Jafarov, one of the key initiatives is a program to train digital talents. Over the past year, 10 thousand citizens of Azerbaijan have already passed free online training, and in 2025 it is planned to expand this program. In 2025, 200 thousand people will be able to undergo online education, covering 8 thousand educational programs. Leading global corporations and universities such as Google, Meta, Amazon, Stanford, Yale and the University of Michigan will participate in the training.
The key goal of the program is to provide Azerbaijan with qualified specialists who can support the country's digital transformation and its adaptation to the requirements of Industry 4.0. According to Caliber.Az, 650 companies that plan to go through digital transformation will be involved in this process.
The development of a digital economy strategy aimed at diversifying the economy and increasing the share of technology in GDP has become an important part of the national economic plan.[1]
