2024: The release of the "Reveal" application

On November 8, 2024, ASCON announced the release of the Raskroy application for automated cutting of sheet materials in the KOMPAS-3D design system. With its help, enterprises will be able to more accurately assess the need for materials and obtain optimal cutting schemes in order to reduce costs and speed up the production process.

This application will find application in, in shipbuilding general, and mechanical engineering to metal working others. industries industries

The "Coloring" application is intended for:

  • for designers who create cutting maps, perform efficiency calculations and develop design documentation;
  • technologists who adjust the opening parameters and prepare process charts;
  • Logistics specialists who manage stock balances, control costs, and optimize inventory.

In the first version, the application allows, based on a contour in FRW or DXF format, to obtain a cutting map in both automatic and manual modes. Calculations of material cutting efficiency and cut length, assignment of business residues in manual and automatic mode are available. Next, the cut data is output: cut cards (DXF), business balances (FRW/DXF), cut sheets (FRW/DXF).

In the next plans, you will add the import of assemblies in KOMPAS-3D format with the automatic creation of part contours for cutting; accounting for the direction of the fibers (structure) of the material; Loading loops in DXF format from third-party CAD with preprocessing (preprocessing). The functionality of reporting documents will also be expanded. Among the promising tasks is the integration of the Raskroy application into corporate PLM and MES enterprise systems.

{{quote 'We conducted a comparative test of how tasks are performed by the traditional "manual" method in CAD and in the "Open" application. An article containing 165 sheet parts was used as an example. With the "manual" method, the creation of contours, the layout of procurement and the formation of the report took 11 hours, in the application - 4.5 minutes. What was done before for two days is now carried out in a few minutes, - explained Mikhail Ponomarenko, head of production solutions Ascon.}}

Before the release of the commercial version, an open beta test of the application took place, as a result of which the developers received feedback from users, valuable proposals for improving and expanding functionality.
