The Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan announced the start of the transition of government applications to a new platform architecture from 2025. Plans to modernize e-government were announced at a briefing on November 26, 2024.

Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiev said that a memorandum was signed with Group 42 from the UAE, specializing in artificial intelligence and cloud computing, to implement the project.

Electronic government of Kazakhstan is transferred to microservice architecture

National Information Technologies JSC is developing a new Kazakh technological platform. The system will be built on the basis of microservices using a single development environment and the Secure by Design principle.

An important innovation will be the constant monitoring of code development by specialists of the State Technical Service under the National Security Committee from the initial stage of product creation, which will reduce the verification time from 3-6 months to a minimum.

In 2025, a phased migration of existing information systems to a new platform will begin. The process will include a preliminary audit of all government information systems to determine the possibility and feasibility of their translation.

The minister stressed that both old and new systems will function in parallel for some time, which corresponds to the international practice of such transitions. The complete transition will be carried out gradually in compliance with all security measures.

Cooperation with Group 42 also provides for the development of supercomputer data processing capacities in the training of artificial intelligence models and their subsequent application in various sectors of the economy.

Platforms are certified for information security. The new architecture is designed to provide a faster and more convenient way to introduce digital products into commercial operation.[1]
