Appointment as the head of the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan

In early May 2024, Zhaslan Madiev was appointed the new Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, representing the staff of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, the new head of the department, noted that Zhaslan Madiev will have to solve important problems facing the Ministry of Digital Development. In particular, the ministry was instructed to ensure the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies, continue to work on creating a favorable environment for nurturing successful startups in order to increase the export of IT services, as well as strengthen information security measures.

Madiev headed the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan instead of Bagdat Mussin, who at the end of April 2024 announced that he had resigned on his own initiative.[1]

"Both lost and earned." Zhaslan Madiev told how he bought cryptocurrencies

On July 12, 2024, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiev shared his experience of investing in cryptocurrencies. At a briefing, the head of the department spoke about his successes and failures in the digital asset market.

The Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan refrained from disclosing specific amounts of his investments and income received, citing the personal nature of this information. However, he shared his approach to investing in cryptocurrencies, advising to adhere to a long-term strategy instead of trying to make money on short-term fluctuations in the course.

Madiev stressed the importance of a responsible approach to investing in crypto assets. In his opinion, only those funds should be invested, the loss of which will not have a significant impact on the financial position of the investor. This is due to the high risks characteristic of the cryptocurrency market.

The minister's statements came amid growing interest in cryptocurrencies in Kazakhstan. On February 29, 2024, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan published clarifications on taxation of operations with cryptocurrencies. This indicates the desire of the country's authorities to resolve the legal status of digital assets.

The experience of Minister Madiev in investing in cryptocurrencies has aroused significant interest among journalists and the public. His frankness in matters of personal investment can help increase transparency in the activities of high-ranking officials and stimulate a discussion about the role of cryptocurrencies in the economy of Kazakhstan, the newspaper notes.[3]
