Simetra has developed a draft planning solutions at a key junction for the Cheboksary agglomeration

2024: Approval of the project for optimizing the transport hub at the intersection of Marposad Highway and Traktorostroiteley Avenue

The competence center in the field of transport planning and modeling, the SIMETRA group of companies, defended the developed project to select the optimal planning solution for the construction of one of the key transport nodes of the Cheboksary agglomeration - the intersection of Marposadskoye Shosse and Traktorostroiteley Avenue. The results of the work will form the basis of the design documentation. Simetra announced this on December 16, 2024.

The main problem of the intersection Marposadskoye Highway - Traktorostroiteley Avenue remained congestion, which arose due to the suboptimal operation of traffic lights, as well as loaded infrastructure for drivers and pedestrians. To find a suitable option for organizing the intersection, the SIMETRA team used a micro-modeling method. Analysis of the current situation was carried out using full-scale measurements, including using a quadcopter.

The data collected over 56 hours formed the basis of a simulation model, with the help of which transport engineers analyzed the traffic conditions on 4 versions of the planning solution, taking into account the cost and expected effect of the implementation. When forming proposals, the prospect of developing traffic flows until 2028 and 2044 was also taken into account.

Following consultations with the customer, the choice was made in favor of a decision providing for the creation of a full-fledged regulated intersection with the organization of the entry and exit point to the New City area in the alignment of the planned st. Igumnova. The project ensures the maximum preservation of the road network, which makes the choice optimal in terms of investment.

The customer has selected the option of changing the planning solutions for implementation, which is under approval in the relevant structures. It only solves congestion at the transport hub with traffic management measures. In the course of modeling, the SIMETRA team applied its own development - a completely domestic RITM³ platform. The decision made it possible to make a full-fledged, data-based forecast of the transport situation on the site of the main artery of the Cheboksary agglomeration, - commented Sergey Blakitny, head of the transport planning group SIMETRA.

The construction of the transport hub Marposadskoye Shosse - Traktorostroiteley Avenue is aimed at improving communication between the city of Cheboksary and its satellite city Novocheboksarsky, connected by the only road - Marposadsky Shosse. The intersection of two transport arteries in the east of Cheboksary has become one of the bottlenecks for transport as part of the development concept of the Cheboksary agglomeration, which also includes the Cheboksary, Mariinsky-Posad, Morgaushsky and Tsivilsky districts.
