2025: Axelot WMS Rollout

Michel and K transferred warehouse logistics under the management of AXELOT WMS. Axelot (Axelot) announced this on February 7, 2025.

The transition to the fifth generation WMS from AXELOT as part of the modernization of the warehouse allowed the company to strictly comply with the FEFO principles, increased the transparency of operations and control over their execution.

Michelle and K has been one of the wholesale distributors in the animal goods market in Russia for many years. As of February 2025, Michelle and K has more than two hundred suppliers of pet products, and the total number of serviced organizations and nurseries is about  7,000 customers.

The warehouse was first transferred to AXELOT WMS. Yaroslavl Its area is 2000 sq.m., the number of SKUs is 20,000.

The warehouse receives goods of three main categories: goods without batches and expiration dates, goods taking into account batches and expiration dates, goods with batches and expiration dates, which are additionally taken into account in the Mercury system.

When planning putaway of goods requiring accounting in FGIS Mercury, their batches are updated in WMS in the document "Certificate." In Expected Receipt, the employee can select the desired certificate and run its verification. The system matches the batches and line composition of the receipt being processed. If everything matches, the batches from the certificate will be written to the receipt document.

It is possible to accept products taking into account batches, shelf life and taking into account in the Mercury system without matching according to the certificate only in the state of "no veterinary and accompanying document" and block for shipment.

The warehouse of Michel & K operates in strict compliance with the FEFO principle and the requirements of counterparties to prepare orders for shipment, which is reflected in the settings of the placement, selection and replenishment algorithms. So, for example, when placing an item with an expiration date in storage, WMS checks if there are more recent batches in the selection area. If there are any, they are moved to the storage area, and goods with a lower residual shelf life (OSG) are transferred to the selection.

When selecting, the picker cannot independently select a shipment order, tasks at the shipping documentation come automatically in order of priority, while the selection takes place in different queues of tasks, and its completion - in three different zones, depending on the settings of the counterparty and the storage object: weighing, control, packaging. Also, the selection takes into account the requirements of counterparties for residual shelf life. After the executor completes all tasks on the order, he must indicate the number of selected cargo items, print a packing list or label, depending on the requirement of the counterparty.

The integration of the enterprise information system and AXELOT WMS is carried out using the DATAREON solution. When developing the integration, not only the specifics of warehouse business processes, but also the historical features of data exchange were taken into account.

AXELOT has also implemented a number of new features in the system that improve ease of use and simplify the process of monitoring operations.

  1. In the product identification task queues, after scanning the bar code, a hint with the full name of the product appears, since some names are more than 100 characters long. This allows the performer not to confuse positions with similar names.
  2. It became possible to change the weight and size characteristics of the package using scales integrated with WMS.
  3. A controlled error was added to carry out automatic control when comparing the planned and actual weight of cargo carriers.
  4. A return container control workplace has been implemented, within which you can track which specific storage places are listed for each driver. In the same workplace, you can transfer the debt from the driver to the counterparty when delivering the shipped order, as well as remove it.

The AXELOT WMS solution takes into account the peculiarities of business processes and the needs of Michel and K in terms of cargo processing of animal goods. Replicating the system in all of the company's warehouses will improve the overall logistics management efficiency, and using a single configuration will simplify the support and development of the solution in the future.
