2026: Release of snow removal robots in Kazan

In February 2026, a presentation of ground drones intended for snow removal in the adjacent territories took place in Kazan. Management companies test two drones: one unit rakes the snow mass, the second - throws it aside and levels the surface. The devices were developed by Avanti Group of Companies.

The initiator of the adaptation of military drones for the needs of housing and communal services was the mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin. The equipment is manufactured at one of the enterprises of the republic, where drones are also produced for the needs of a special military operation. As the mayor explained, the idea arose during a visit to production, where he suggested that specialists use their experience in a peaceful life.

Robots for snow removal took to the streets of Kazan

The main reason for automation was an acute shortage of personnel. As of February 2026, the staff of janitors in large management companies in Kazan is only 60% staffed: with a need for 2221 employees, 1330 people actually work. In addition, the use of robots is designed to transform hard routine work into a high-tech process, which may interest young specialists.

Preliminary results of the testing of equipment in one of the management companies showed that a pair of such machines can replace from 20 to 30 janitors. Cleaning a 100 by 50 m area takes no more than five minutes. The width of the capture of the unmanned complex allows you to clear the passage for cars in just two passes. Thanks to the tracked track and a mass of about 500 kg, the robot has high cross-country ability and does not knit in the snow. Battery life reaches eight hours, the equipment operates at temperatures from minus 25 to plus 50 degrees and develops a safe speed of up to 20 km/h.

As the general director of the manufacturing company Fedor Mikheev explained, the first copies of snow removal equipment are maneuverable and can work where large-sized machines are not able to turn around.[1]
