2020: Purchase of medical device maker Varian for $16.4 billion
In early August 2020, it became known that Siemens Healthineers was buying the American company Varian Medical Systems for $16.4 billion. This transaction will be the first major acquisition of Siemens Healthineers, which became a separate division of Siemens in 2018. Read more here.

Fast Track Diagnostics Purchase - Diagnostic Tests
On December 15, 2017, Siemens Healthiners signed a contract to acquire Fast Track Diagnostics, a diagnostic test company. The value of the transaction was not disclosed. Read more here.
Purchase by Epocal Inc. - Blood Analyzers
On July 21, 2017, Siemens Healthineers signed a definitive agreement to purchase Epocal Inc., a division of Alere Inc., which develops portable blood analyzers for healthcare facilities, including the Epoc Blood Analysis System, a portable wireless system.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The deal is due to close on the completion of the takeover of Alere's Abbott Laboratories. Read more here.
Buying Medicalis - Medical Systems
On April 19, 2017, Siemens Healthineers announced its acquisition of Medicalis Corporation. Through this transaction, the buyer intends to expand the portfolio of hospital tools and medical systems designed for public health management initiatives. Purchase Conworx Technology - Hardware Integration Software Developer
In November 2016, Siemens Healthcare announced the purchase of the German company Conworx Technology, which develops software designed to connect, manage and integrate medical equipment and devices used for diagnostics at patient observation sites. Read more here.
Neo New Oncology Purchase - Cancer Diagnosis
On May 17, 2016, Siemens Healthineers announced the purchase of Neo New Oncology, a cancer diagnostic service. The deal was closed back in March 2016, its value was not disclosed.
The acquisition of Neo New Oncology, Healthineers said Siemens , will provide the latest entry point into the next generation of sequencing genomic testing technologies, as well as expanding the capabilities of Siemens Healthineers accompanying diagnostics and improving the accuracy of medical examinations.
