- Deepfakes (DeepFake) (from deep learning - "deep learning" and fake - "fake") - a method for synthesizing human image based on artificial intelligence. It is used to combine and overlay existing images on video.
- Facial recognition systems are the automatic localization of a human face in an image or video and, if necessary, identification of a person's identity based on available databases. Interest in these systems is very high due to the wide range of tasks they solve.

Artificial intelligence taught to fake people's movements in video
As it became known in June 2018, a new development in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) has appeared, which will allow the creation of realistic fake video plots.
Tools that allow you to simulate the movement of the lips and facial expressions of a person already exist. However, according to the Futurism portal, the new AI-based system represents a significant improvement in existing developments. It provides the ability to create photorealistic videos in which all movements and words uttered by the actor in the source video will be transferred to the changeable video.
A public demonstration of the development will take place in August 2018 at the SIGGRAPH computer graphics conference. The creators of the new system plan to show development possibilities through experiments comparing the new algorithm with existing tools for creating believable video plots and images, many of which were partially developed by Facebook and Google. The characteristics of an AI-based solution outperform existing systems. Reportedly, the AI system in just a few minutes of working with the original plot will help create a flawless fake video. The participants in the experiments hardly managed to distinguish real videos from fake ones.
The developers, who have received financial support from Google, hope their work will be used to improve virtual reality technology and make it more accessible.
The paper published by the researchers also raises ethical challenges to the use and wide availability of such technology.
I know about the ethical consequences of these projects, "says researcher Justus Thies in an interview with The Register. "That's why we published the results of our research. I think it's very important that people learn about the possibilities of these technologies and develop ways to identify them[1] |
2018: A film driven by the power of thought created
In May 2018, a film was announced, the plot of which adjusts to the reaction of the viewer. The tape for 27 minutes was called "The Moment." Its premiere is scheduled for June 7, but for now the creators have presented a trailer.
The film is driven by the power of thought: it reacts to how the viewer perceives it. To watch such a movie, you need to wear special equipment that measures the electrical activity of the brain. The algorithm will replace various scenes and personnel depending on the mood of the viewer. The computer determines how boring the viewer is at the moment of viewing.
The headset reads small electrical signals caused by the impulses of neurons in the brain. From this, we get information about the attention of the viewer, which via Bluetooth enters the computer. There, the system I created will choose various options for the development of the plot depending on the fluctuation of attention, - explained one of the authors of the project, Richard Ramchern from the University of Nottingham. |
The film provides 101 trillion plot combinations created using artificial intelligence. True, in reality, the figure is not so impressive: it is only about 50 personnel of two options for events in each - or about 30 personnel of three options. It is noted, despite the large number of branches of the plot, the final of the tape remains unchanged.
The plot of the tape is dedicated to the future of humanity, which faces a threat from artificial intelligence. According to the plot, the system of direct computer control with the help of thoughts at some point becomes commonplace, but the strengthened connection between a person and machines leads to the emergence of a system where dissent can lead to complete isolation from society and even death. The main characters, who turned out to be outcasts, have to make difficult decisions in order to survive in this futuristic world.
