2022: Private doctor detained in Moscow after circumcision in a monthly child at home

On April 18, 2022, it became known about the initiation of a criminal case against a 30-year-old man who performed a circumcision operation on a baby at home.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow, the incident occurred on April 17, 2022 in the Timiryazevsky district of the capital. A private doctor (his name is not disclosed) performed a circumcision operation on a monthly boy, after which the child's condition deteriorated greatly. According to Izvestia, during the procedure for removing the foreskin, the boy stopped breathing, and he began to turn blue. TASS, citing a law enforcement source, reports that the baby had an allergic reaction to the drug. As soon as this happened, the child was taken to the nearest hospital.

In Moscow, a case was opened after an incident with circumcision of a baby at home

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, the Commissioner for the Rights of the Child in Moscow, Olga Yaroslavskaya, said that by April 18, 2022 the child is now in serious condition in a medical institution. He is provided with all the necessary medical care.

According to the Ren TV channel, the baby is on a ventilator (IVL). The channel reports that the circumcision was carried out by the father of the boy, who is a surgeon. At the same time, the agency "Moscow" the child was operated by a private doctor, who was hired by his parents. During the audit, it turned out that the parents of the child are natives of a neighboring country, the publication says.

By April 18, 2022, investigators establish whether the suspect had a license to carry out medical activities. Also at the moment, all the circumstances of the incident are being clarified. The Moscow prosecutor's office also took control of the investigation of the criminal case initiated under Part 1 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code ("Provision of services that do not meet security requirements").[1]
