Every day of 2024, 154 bitcoin millionaires appeared in the world
In 2024, an average of 154 cryptocurrency addresses with a balance of more than $1 million were created daily, and the total number of such addresses increased by 56 thousand per year. TAdviser got acquainted with such data in January 2025.
The number of bitcoin addresses with a balance of $1 million to $10 million increased by 48.7 thousand, and the number of addresses with assets of more than $10 million increased by 7.5 thousand. The total increase was 58.21% - from 97 thousand to 153 thousand addresses.
Finbold chief analyst Mark Thompson said that the increase in the number of bitcoin millionaires is associated with cryptocurrency reaching new historical highs - more than $73 thousand in the first half of the year and overcoming the $100 thousand mark in December 2024.
Over the year, 9.9 million new bitcoin addresses appeared, which averages 27 thousand daily. The total increase in the number of addresses reached 12.79%.
The greatest growth was shown by addresses with a balance of $100 to $999 - 3.3 million new wallets were created. In the category from $1 thousand to $9.9 thousand, 2.6 million addresses were added, from $10 thousand to $99.9 thousand - 1.4 million addresses.
The growth in the number of bitcoin millionaires was influenced by the approval of BTC exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by the US Securities and Exchange Commission in January 2024. The re-election of Donald Trump in November led to the emergence of about 11 thousand new millionaires.
Analysts note that the number of addresses does not reflect the exact number of cryptocurrency owners, since one person can control several addresses, and several persons can own one address.
The growing popularity of altcoins and meme coins in 2024 limited the increase in the number of bitcoin holders, as traders invested in less capitalized cryptocurrencies with rapid growth potential.
For 52 weeks of 2024, the cost of bitcoin increased by 121.11%. Investors also gained access to cryptocurrency through MicroStrategy shares and exchange-traded funds.[1]
