Sales of implants for dentistry in Russia for the year increased by 5% and reached 1.97 million packages

Sales of implants for dentistry in Russia reached 1.97 million packages in 2025, an increase of 5% compared to 2024. Over the five-year period from 2021, the market volume grew by 81% from 1.09 million packages. This is reported in the study "Analysis of the implant market for dentistry in Russia," prepared by BusinesStat in January 2026.

In 2024-2025, dental implant sales continued to grow at a more moderate pace. The market stabilized at a new equilibrium level and slowed the dynamics. In 2022-2023, there was a record increase due to increased demand from dental clinics in the face of the expected decrease in the availability of European and American manufacturers.

Dental clinics tried to form stocks of implants of international brands that could leave the Russian market amid sanctions. Purchases of more budget products of Asian production expanded. Patients planning to begin dental repair or already entering the treatment protocol sought to fix prices.

Fears of rising costs and shortages of imported materials stimulated demand. In 2022, sales jumped 35.8% to 2021. In 2023, the increase was 16.9%. Rush purchases have formed stocks at clinics.

Due to a change in the structure of imports in favor of products from South Korea, the average price of sales of implants decreased in 2022. South Korean products are cheaper compared to products of Swiss, German, Italian brands. Price cuts have made implants more affordable for the end consumer.

European manufacturers have reduced their presence in the Russian market. Logistical difficulties and sanctions restrictions complicated supplies. Asian companies have filled the resulting niche. South Korea has become a key source of imports.

Sales rose 8.7% in 2024. In 2025, the pace slowed to 4.8%. The transition from rush demand to systematic development characterizes the maturity of the market. Clinics have used up their accumulated supplies. Purchases have returned to their current needs.[1]

In Russia, they began to install dental implants without additional bone material. This accelerates implantation

Russian specialists have introduced an innovative technique for installing dental implants without the use of additional bone material, which significantly reduces the duration of the dental repair procedure. The new approach allows you to reduce the total implantation period from tooth removal to the final placement of crowns to six months. The technique was developed and successfully used by specialists of Sechenov University. This became known on July 22, 2025.

According to the press service of the university, the improved dental implantation technology represents an alternative to classical operations, which traditionally require the use of bone-plastic materials to increase the volume of bone tissue in the jaw.

Russia, they began to install dental implants without additional bone material. This accelerates implantation

Associate Professor of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery named after Academician N.N. Bazhanov, Sechenov University, maxillofacial surgeon Leonid Borozdkin explained the essence of the technique. He noted that the success of the operation depends on the correct selection of the implant, its installation even in thin bone tissue and accurate positioning, ensuring the stability of the structure and stimulating the formation of new bone tissue.

Conventional implantation often requires preliminary bone repair with insufficient bone volume in the implant region. This increases the number of surgeries and extends the total treatment period to one and a half years. The new technique eliminates the need for bone-plastic surgery.

Advantages of the improved technology include reducing the number of visits to the doctor, reducing the injury rate of the procedure, and reducing the rehabilitation period. Patients get the opportunity to restore chewing function and smile aesthetics in a shorter time frame.

The technique is based on the use of specially selected implants that provide primary stability even when installed in a limited volume of bone tissue. Proper positioning of the structure creates conditions for natural bone regeneration around the implant.[2]

2024

Global sales of orthodontic implants for the year exceeded $404 million

At the end of 2024, the global market for orthodontic implants (orthoimplants) reached $404.18. More than a third of global costs came from the North American region. Such data are presented in a study by GrandView Research, the results of which Zdrav.Expert got acquainted with at the end of July 2025.

Orthoimplants are used in the treatment of complex dental abnormalities and serious bite defects when radical measures are required. Sometimes in such situations, doctors have to resort to removing one or more molars: this is necessary to make room for change positions of the remaining teeth. In certain cases, this process can be avoided thanks to the use of special orthodontic implants - small temporary structures that are implanted into bone tissue. They create additional support for braces and other equalizing devices dentition. Orthoimplants provide stability and controlled force, allowing teeth to be moved with maximum accuracy. Such products provide additional support for a non-removable orthodontic system - even in the absence of supporting teeth.

Demand for orthoimplants is growing amid increased awareness of oral health among people, the report said. An increasing number of patients are seeking corrective treatment at health facilities and dental clinics to improve functionality and aesthetics. Orthodontic implants provide a number of significant advantages over alternative methods. In particular, in many cases, there is no need to remove healthy teeth - for example, in operations to displace the jaw. The installation of such products does not require bone building and any complex preparation. The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia with minimal tissue injury. These implants are biocompatible and hypoallergenic.

Analysts cite the growing prevalence of malocclusion and other dental diseases as another market driver. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), published in March 2025, almost 3.7 billion people suffer from various oral diseases. Moreover, most of these pathologies are preventable and can be treated in the early stages. This stimulates the need for corrective procedures, which in turn leads to an increase in sales of orthoimplants. Such products are increasingly used in the treatment of complex jaw deformations, for elimination of interdental spaces and asymmetry of the dentition, for the movement of individual teeth, etc. In addition, such implants do not need long-term osteointegration - they can be used for their intended purpose immediately after installation.

In 2024, it is estimated that 52.45% of revenue was generated by ortho implants for adult patients. From a geographical point of view, North America leads, which accounted for 33.55% of global spending: the region is dominated by the United States with 84.86%. Globally, significant players are named:

  • S.K. Surgicals;
  • Dentos;
  • GDT Dental Implants;
  • AO American Orthodontics;
  • Tita-Link;
  • Straumann;
  • Medical Precision Implants;
  • Osteonic;
  • Metro Orthodontics;
  • Morelli.

In 2025, the orthodontic implant market size is expected to reach $450.38 million. Analysts at Grand View Research believe that in the future, the CAGR will be 12.42%. Thus, by 2033, expenses may increase to $1.15 billion.[3]

Russia has developed a breakthrough technology for diagnosing the engraftability of dental implants. It is based on the current of an ultra-small force

In September 2024, it became known about the development by Russian scientists of a breakthrough technology for diagnosing the engraftment of dental implants, based on the use of ultra-low force current. Scientists at Penza State University have presented a method that allows you to track the process of bone engraftment after implantation, ensuring accurate and safe diagnosis. This joulmetry-based approach has been proposed as an alternative to traditional methods using X-rays and invasive procedures.

According to TASS, the new technology is developed for use in dentistry when implanting teeth, where the bone tissue of the jaw is often required to successfully install an implant. Bone tissue tends to degrade rapidly in areas where a tooth has fallen out, requiring repair before implantation. However, the process of bone engraftment remains complex, and its diagnosis using computed tomography and X-rays carries risks to patients' health. According to the technology developer, graduate student of Penza State University Andrei Demidov, their method offers a safe and effective alternative.

In
Russia, a technology for diagnosing the engraftment of dental implants based on ultra-low current has been developed

The essence of the method is to measure the electrochemical characteristics of tissues affected by restorative or inflammatory processes. Using a special sensor and measuring system, an ultra-small current pulse is applied to the regenerated tissue site, after which the program analyzes the tissue response and its correlation with clinical indicators. Increase or decrease of response signals allows to determine success of implant engraftment. According to Andrei Demidov, the procedure is absolutely painless, non-invasive and does not require complex equipment.

The development is highly cost-effective: the device costs 10 times cheaper than computed tomography and X-ray machines, while it is not inferior in accuracy to diagnostic data. The method was tested on a group of more than 40 patients, and the results of the studies confirmed its effectiveness.[4]

Growth in sales of dental implants in Russia by 12% to 1.6 million packages

In 2023, 1.6 million packages of dental implants were sold in Russia, which is 12% more than a year earlier. Compared to 2019, the market volume grew by 81%, analysts at BusinesStat calculated. Their data was published in April 2024.

According to BusinesStat estimates, the growth rate of the Russian dental implant market has tripled. In 2022, sales of these products soared by 36% against the background of a sharp rise in demand in the context of an estimated shortage and an expected increase in cost both for the implants themselves and for their installation services.

In 2023, the domestic dental implant market remained at the stage of active growth and development, researchers say. According to them, a large number of people in the country need to replace lost teeth and choose implants as the most effective and durable way to restore the dentition.

Another catalyst for the growth of the Russian dental implant market is associated with the professional growth of dentists and access to training programs. Doctors are increasingly aware of the benefits of implants and take special courses to master this modern technique. This contributes to the expansion of the range of specialists offering implantation and improves the quality of the services provided, the study says.

According to analysts, in 2023 the situation in the dental implant market stabilized "at a new equilibrium level after the shock 2022."

Dental implants are divided into extraosseous (fixed during natural loss or atrophy of the jaw bone in the tissues of the periosteum or gum) and intraosseous (installed directly into the bone of the upper or lower jaw).[5]

In Russia, created a smart material for the rapid creation of products for leveling teeth

On February 26, 2024, Russian researchers from the University of Science and Technology MISIS (NITU MISIS) announced the development of a new heat-sensitive material that can be used to create protective biological coatings for medical use. This, in particular, can be products for orthodontic dentistry (for example, when creating eliners), including for equalizing teeth.

We are talking about the use of thermoplastic polyurethanes - special materials that, when the shape of the product changes, remember their initial state and can return to it when external conditions change, such as temperature, humidity or lighting. The substance created by Russian scientists consists of incompatible soft and rigid blocks that form a complex nanostructure after cooling to room temperature. The researchers found that it is possible to change the mechanical properties of such a material by modifying the crystal structure of soft blocks when heated. The result is influenced by various parameters - crystallization conditions, heating temperature and chemical composition.

A new material for creating eliners has been developed

Project participants say smart polyurethanes can be used in creating coatings for medical devices and implants to protect against corrosion and improve biocompatibility. In addition, adaptive materials for orthodontic parts can be obtained.

In the case of such structures in the dental field, researchers highlight several key advantages over analogues. These are increased mechanical strength, biocompatibility, high ability to restore shape (over 90% of the original), the ability to control the speed of recovery and the force of pressure on the teeth. This is claimed to reduce the cost of treatment, reduce the use time of orthodontic plates and filaments, and make heat-sensitive materials safer.[6]

According to VSMPO-Avisma, about 4 thousand tons of titanium devices are implanted in people around the world every year. Titanium alloys are used today to replace femoral and knee joints, strengthen the spine, in the treatment of the maxillofacial and craniofacial regions, to create pins, bone plates, fixators, cardiovascular devices, dental implants, external prostheses and surgical instruments.

According to Stepanov, the share of titanium supplies for Boeing occupies 20% of the company's revenue (about $250 million), but it will decrease in the coming years, although the American corporation will remain a key partner of VSMPO-Avisma.

Stepanov explained that at the beginning of 2021, the corporation expects the placement of orders for the supply of this metal. He spoke about the restoration of air travel in China, where the industry has already recovered from the pandemic and reached pre-crisis levels. In other countries, a coronavirus vaccine will be able to help with this.

The head of VSMPO-Avisma noted that in 2020-2021 the company will be engaged in anti-crisis management, reducing the investment program and balancing cash flows.[7]
